5 must-see episodes on MeTV this week of May 1

Tune in for a wedding, a unicorn dog, Pink Floyd references and the very first Rifleman.

May is here, flowers are blooming and summer seems just around the corner. But you still need to spend some quality time inside with old friends on the television. This week, we have selected some interesting episodes of note for various reasons.

Here are five shows to schedule your life around for the next seven days. Oh, and keep your eyes peeled for some big schedule announcements on Saturday!

M*A*S*H "Hepatitis"
Tuesday 2 at 7PM | 6C

We wrote about this episode a couple months ago, and it is a fascinating one. Here's the story: William Christopher, the actor who portrayed Father Mulcahy, became sick with hepatatis in 1976. The producers considered cutting him from the cast. Alan Alda would have none of it. In fact, he worked Christopher's real-life illness into the plot. "Hepatitis" is a testament to the strong ties of that brilliant cast.

The Rifleman "The Sharpshooter"
Thursday 4 at 3PM | 2C

The are a couple reasons any Western lover needs to see this one. For starters, it's, well, the starter. The premiere episode of the series introduced so much of what we love about Lucas McCain and North Fork. Secondly, it stars a mesmerizing, young Dennis Hopper.

Gunsmoke "Fandango"
Saturday 6 at 1PM | 12C

Any Pink Floyd fans out there? Here's a fun footnote. A line of dialogue from this episode is used on The Wall, just before "Is There Anybody Out There?" as you hear Marshal Dillon say, "Well, we've got an hour of daylight left. We better get started." It is also a gripping episode, as Matt Dillon tries to bring a man to justice but is hindered by a rancher who wants to kill the prisoner for his own reasons. The lovely Diana Muldaur of Star Trek and Star Trek: The Next Generation guests.

Star Trek "The Enemy Within"
Saturday 6 at 9PM | 8C

Speaking of Star Trek, we have one of the all-time greats this Sci-Fi Saturday. "Evil Kirk" wreaks havoc on the Enterprise, giving Shatner tons of juicy scenes for doing what he does best. Oh, and we adore the unicorn space dog in this one, too.

The Love Boat "The Expedition" Parts 1 and 2
Sunday 7 at 5PM | 4C

Warmer weather means wedding season! The whole crew heads to Australia — which provides some lovely scenery — for Julie's wedding. Harry Morgan, Patrick Duffy and an adorable koala guest star. This two-parter kicked off the fifth season of the floating rom-com.
