On the other hand it could go completely the other way with Sammy Davis Jr vs Barbara Eden. It seems either end of the spectrum might be what happens.

The absolute ONLY thing about the latest voting that I am happy about is that Montalban wasn't paired against Barbara Eden because I would have had to flip a coin. No way I could come up with a reason to choose one over the other.
Shatner/Eden? No contest. I'll never understand how Shat made it this far. His Twilight Zone appearance wasn't that much different from anything else he did in the old days. And I'm a super Star Trek fan.

In my heart, Sammy Davis Jr. on AITF is #1, hands down.
But, that's just me.

I think it will be Burgess Meredith vs William Shatner.

HAPPY DAYS SPIN OFFS THAT NEVER HAPPENED: For good reasons- Aside from the "LITB" Series.
LEAVE IT TO CHUCK -Chuck, Upchuck, they're all the same thing.
LEAVE IT TO BAG- Yep he didn't have in the Bag at that time or anytime.
LEAVE IT TO MOOSE- They set him free - There's A " Moose on the Loose".
LEAVE IT TO EUGENE- Eugene, Himgene - In this scenario "No-Gene".
LEAVE IT TO MELVIN - That probably was due to the name.
LEAVE IT TO SPIKE- His character never seemed to "Spike" in popularity.
LEAVE IT TO DAPHNE - Well in a way they did. They just gave the name back to "Daphne" on Scooby Doo.
THE AAAYYY TEAM- Best related spin-off was the Schedule change with the original
"The A-Team"

You know, it's funny. I always considered the Barbara Eden episode of TAGS to be among the worst.

For me, Its Mumy or Hub Caps Lesh. No others are acceptable.

Although animated characters are fun to watch, it didn't seem to fit the category as some of the other choices in the poll. Also the Poll in 2021 was favorite MeTV Cartoon Character:

Wasn't that the band ? ....Oh wait, Richie was the one with the Band.
I liked that pictue of Ric Carrott
Gavan O'Herlihy and Randolph Roberts who were victims of The
Chuck Cunningham Vaporizer that you put on here recently. I hope that you will decide to put the picture of the 3 Chuck Cunningham actors on the CC VAPORIZER back on this space under this article.

Ric Carrott Gavan O'Herlihy and Randolph were all victims of The
Chuck Cunningham Vaporizer and in 1980 Roger Phillips played by Ted McGinley as the New Basketball Coach At Jefferson High School instead of Chuck Cunningham as the new Basketball coach.
I hope that the picture of The Chuck Cunningham VAPORIZER can be put back sometime soon.

Here's a question. I think a person can vote multiple times, though it is hard to imagine why one would.

Do you think there are any nutty people who would vote multiple times, especially as the field narrows, skewing the final outcome?
Rob harlow1313 5 days ago
I tried to vote again and it didn’t work.
harlow1313 Rob 5 days ago
I withdraw my question.
MC1707 harlow1313 4 days ago
No, you can only vote once, and it won’t open back up for you.
harlow1313 8 days ago
I have only chosen an animated character when I felt their opponent to be cringe-worthy.
harlow1313 8 days ago
I would like to see either Hub Caps Lesh or Little Anthony take the crown. The rest are piffle.
VladZu 8 days ago
I have seen a lot of division on animated appearances being acceptable or not, but I have a slightly different take.

I do not think appearances in anthology series truly makes for a guest starring appearance.

Example: Leonard Nimoy appearing on Perry Mason would be a guest starring experience, while William Shatner on The Twilight Zone would not.

In anthology, you are working with a completely new set of actors, and not adapting to an already existing cast. This would also apply to animated appearances, because the actor may not have even interacted with the regular cast of the show.

Interesting Round 3 choices. Still don't see the animated characters (voice only or voice over), as a guest star, but we'll see where that goes. Good choice on the other guest stars though.

Good one!! I get it!

I'm not trying to lump your opinion with the rest of mine below, by default. But it seems to me like they're catering to the cartoon crowd. Which I think is because they're a fixed audience they can guarantee to the advertiser. Meaning, those viewers aren't going anywhere if they can't find cartoons (easily/free) in another place. Yet cartoons are illustrations/animation and not celebrity guest actors. By definition it's just not equal. I think the mechanics of the survey is about deciding one thing versus another, because the opposites are so disparate. I can't access the quiz again because I already voted. But they had Nimoy up against something improbable, and I thought - really, 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕'𝒔 𝒂 𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆? Meaning I'd pick LN because he's an interesting actor, in lots of stuff. Not just "Spock." So I think that's what MeTV is trying to figure out. As in, what's the value of the Series itself. Like, viewers love Twilight Zone and Perry Mason because they get to see so many of their popular classic TV actors!
LoveMETV22 Pacificsun 8 days ago
I save when I vote in notepad, with the % at the time, for just such occasions. It was:
Sammy Davis Jr. on All in the Family "Sammy's Visit" 65%
vs
Leonard Nimoy on Perry Mason "The Case of the Shoplifter's Shoe" 35%.

I chose LN as well, but it didn't look he was doing well, but that may change.
Pacificsun LoveMETV22 8 days ago
😉
So interesting.

I wonder if that's a vote for AITF instead of Perry Mason (two very different audiences) O the entertainer versus the actor?
Pacificsun 8 days ago
Again, in a lot of cases it's a toss up between having a favorite actor between the two. And having a favorite performance because of the actor IN that role. Good Quiz, thoughtful choices and interesting to see the percentages. The way it was designed this year, IMO, will make the outcome even more meaningful!
LoveMETV22 Pacificsun 8 days ago
I wonder. When the final result is decided, what they will do with that result. For instance let say
William Shatner was the Winner- Will they pre-empt a Sunday afternoon and run A Star Trek Block? It probably wouldn't work for each celebrity. Just curious.
Pacificsun LoveMETV22 8 days ago
I would like the result demonstrated in some way!

Another interesting question.
LoveMETV22 Pacificsun 8 days ago
Well, I hope it's more than "This is how you voted."

Although Lisa Whelchel didn't progress in the results. Glad to see a new season of "Collector's Call"
returning in a couple of weeks.

I agree, maybe the particular episode the the favorite was in could be shown.
Mikeitaly 8 days ago
I wonder in the voting, the reason we vote, the actual star or by some more personal reason! I just saw a comment that the animated show Johnny Quest was considered " racism ". lol. Now that is stupid.

I LOVED Johnny Quest when I was young. And I've never gotten to see it again.

What most people have no idea of is that Star Trek: Space Seed guest stars Ricardo Montalban, who played Khan (the character upon which the entire plotlines of both ST II: "Wrath of Khan" and ST 2: "Into Darkness" were based) and his soon to be wife, Marla, played by actress Madlyn Rhue, both also starred in the famous 1960 Bonanza episode, "Day of Reckoning," as husband/wife Matsou and Hatoya.
Pacificsun JJ614 8 days ago
😉 Nice contribution, thank you as always!

IMO, to some degree, familiarity or perhaps even memory, depends on the level of fandom. We're probably originals or close to it. So Space Seed made a marked impression among the original episodes, because both actors turned in stellar performances. We both know that a couple of ST:TOS episodes were considered as foundation for the movies. But Kahn projected a menacing villainy who was curiously relatable in "human" terms (rather than being an off the chart alien). They just took the popular relationships of the key characters and ratched them up several notches. I never tire of seeing the episode again, because there's always a little more to notice. I certainly didn't know about the Bonanza episode though, and will watch for it. Have been appreciating that Western more and more lately when I catch it accidentally.

Of course Montalban and Rhue put in wonderful performances (though separately) in another favorite Series of ours. Casting (in those days) had a unique knack for suggesting just the right actor for the specific role. To the point of where we (as classic TV fans) almost can't imagine anyone else.

Always fun sharing - 😉!
Pacificsun JJ614 8 days ago
Another reason for doing that, which might seem coincidental to some. Is that the chemistry between those two actors has already been established. I don't know which series came first without looking it up. But it's another shorthand method casting agencies use to suggest the best of acting candidates for a producer's purpose (intention). I've read that casting is the last thing a Production wants to or expect to, worry about. They want proven talent, delivery and reliability. So the reason we see so many of our favored classic TV actors everywhere over time, is very purposeful. And for another reason that Production never dreamed these Series would keep on going for decades!!

"Working Actors" just looked from getting one job to the next!
JJ614 Pacificsun 4 days ago
I enjoyed your input here so much!
JJ614 Pacificsun 4 days ago
Bonanza episode was 1960, ST Space Seed 1966.
JJ614 Pacificsun 4 days ago
Yeah, the bit players all had contracts with a studio and they were used over and over among their different series. And over and over in the same series. There's at least one actor who played 5 different characters on Perry Mason - but they had a 9-year run, so that's not so strange when considered in that context. That's why often for the old movies, we see actors "on loan" from one studio to star in the movie of a different studio. It was a big contract deal.
My absolute fave part of watching old shows is that I see an actor play some little part - and I think - wow. I know where your life went from here and I know the day of your end. It's like time travel. Like watching Jim Davis in so many MANY westerns. Usually as the bad guy. Knowing some day he'd play Jock Ewing in Dallas. And not only his real life end, but how Dallas wrote his end into the series. I mean - it's just eerie being older as I am and looking back....and knowing their futures. Especially De Kelly (Bones on ST), appearing on SO many westerns. And then stepping out of that familiar role to become the doctor on such a futuristic hit that changed the course of Sci-Fi.
Pacificsun JJ614 3 days ago
😉 IMO you have a unique perspective regarding classic TV, as a Time Capsule. We are the first generation to enjoy this vantage point (in bulk) meaning from the networks who cater to our preference!
cperrynaples 11 days ago
Well, i played my version based on the first brackets, and on that basis my final 2 are Ricardo Monteblan vs. Sammy Davis Jr. Tough choice; Star Trek's best villian vs. Archie Bunker's biggest challenge! Mumy loses to Davis in the final 4! I struggled with that one, but I realized that I couldn't have 2 baddies in the final 2!
What are you playing, ... Fantasy Celebrity Guest Star Tournament??
JJ614 cperrynaples 4 days ago
Sadly - seriously sadly for me as a ST fan - it looks like Montalban is going to lose to Shatner. Who, btw - is 92 today (3-22). I think it's a MUCH more important role change for Montalban as Khan in ST than Shat in Twilight Zone.

Elizabeth Montgomery was an excellent actress, however from her bio it looks like she has had roles in other MeTV series aside from Bewitched . Oh well a vote is a vote.
cperrynaples LoveMETV22 10 days ago
Yes, Bewitched is on "other Networks", but The Flintstones are on MeTV! And where was the nomination for Stoney Curtis...LOL!
LoveMETV22 cperrynaples 10 days ago
The same for Ann-Margret, well actually not quite the same, how many guest appearances did she make on MeTV aside from the voice only on the Flintstones. At least EM appeared on a few series outside of the (voice only) animated character they could have used those. They could save the animated characters or likenesses for a story or quiz.
Pacificsun LoveMETV22 8 days ago
Oh wow, I wonder if we're all getting the same choices? I don't remember a Takai versus a Bewitched. But because we can't go back in, I guess nobody will notice. Interesting.
