andy?! really?! - I think the only arrest (to the lock-up) he made were the Gordon boys and his hand was banged up hitting a wall in this trailer (for whatever reason in real life)

Photo finish - either Columbo or Dan Mathews - 2 waaay different shows

Like watching Highway Patrol as the last show at night B4 sack time

Columbo no question! Still watch it today. And one more thing... he's the best!

Inspector Bill Henderson(Robert Shayne) from Superman.
When I was a kid, he seemed like the ideal policeman, plus he had that cool fedora.

I chose Columbo, not because he's the best cop in the list (actually, most of his arrests would have been thrown out of court due to his badgering methods and abyssmal handling of evidence) but because Peter Falk's performance was so iconic in the role and because Columbo was dogged in his pursuit of justice.
One thing though, it should be "Lieutenant Columbo", not "Frank Columbo", caonocally, he was never given a first name and the "Frank", IINM came from a third-party trivia book that used the first name as a copyright trap.

Nice bit of trivia about where "Frank" came from, as I recall Falk saying that Columbo
not having his first name mentioned was part of the mystique.

How can anyone NOT choose Jack Webb? If it wasn’t for Webb, we wouldn’t have the Police Procedural that we know and love today! Tacoshow had a great idea to introduce a Jack Webb award for outstanding Police Procedural. All must pay homage to Jack Webb…and those are just the facts!

Frank Columbo was the mob guy. Lt. Columbo never had a first name.

So many to pick from. Don Johnson (Sonny Crockett on Miami Vice). Daniel J Travanti Hill Street Blues. Cagney and Lacey, Sgt. Joe Friday, Andy Sipowitz, Olivia Benson all great.

Oops! Just realized that Joe Friday was played by Harry Morgan. Love him on MASH too!

Jack Webb played ‘Sgt. Joe Friday,’ it was ‘Bill Gannon’ who was played by Harry Morgan.
