Hard work never slowed down Doris Roberts
Roberts' mindset led her to years and years of productivity.
You've read it time and again in interviews with actors with some years under their belt. "Age ain't nothing but a number." The oft-repeated idiom is a great reminder of how attitude leads our lives. Sure, complain all you want, and maybe that will bring you some temporary relief. But if you just employ a little positivity, it can bring some real long-term benefits. Suddenly, you have a bit more energy for a big stretch in the morning. Then, your back hurts a bit less because you've chosen not to sit still all day. Right thoughts lead to right actions, and faking it until you make it starts to feel better, bit by bit.
It's no wonder that Doris Roberts had a career as long and storied as she did. She wouldn't let a thing as simple as age stop her, and her work only got better as she counted the years.
"I don't know what over the hill is," she told Gannett News Service in '85.

Of course, Roberts wasn't breaking her back in a coal mine for 80 hours a week, but that didn't make her toil any less trouble. She was a hard-working actor, and while that might not seem as demanding as other (more relatable) jobs, it was no walk in the park, either.
"Sometimes, we work 17 hours a day. Whenever you can, you go to your room or trailer and nap for five to 10 minutes. This work zaps all your energy. But I love to get up and go to work. I like the continuity of it. It makes you feel quite secure."
Take it from Roberts... If you don't like what you're doing, change it! There's no better time to make a switch in your life than in the here and now. Life's a long road if you're doing stuff you don't love, and paradoxically, it's too short to do anything you hate. So take matters into your own hands and lead your life with a little positive energy. Who knows! It might come back around to you tenfold.
