Robert Fuller loved a good Western series
The actor knew his strengths, and stuck to them.

The best advice anyone can receive is to find what you love and go after it. A talented actor in television shows like Emergency! Robert Fuller had no shortage of projects to choose from. However, the actor preferred one genre above all the rest: Westerns.
Fuller was recognized for his roles in Westerns like Wagon Train and Laramie. He was the sort of man who felt more comfortable in a cowboy hat than anything else. Moreover, Fuller preferred the narrative style of Westerns and the popularity of the genre amongst audiences.
"I will go to the top in Westerns if I can," said Fuller during an interview with The World News. "Westerns make good stories, excellent entertainment providing an escape for the viewer. The Western will go and return in cycles on television."

Acting in a Western series also aligned with several of Fuller's other passions, including remaining active in the great outdoors.
"I like Westerns," said Fuller during another interview with the Associated Press. "I like the people I work with, and I like working outdoors."
Of course, viewers came to know and love characters like Cooper Smith of Wagon Train and began to root for Fuller as though he was one of their own friends.
"I like the way the public reacts, too. When I go out on tours, people have immediate recognition, and they talk to me like an old friend. They tell me, 'The next bad guy you meet, get him for me.' It makes you feel like a million dollars."
Although he had been in his fair share of Westerns, Fuller was always willing to saddle up one more time. In that same interview, the actor was pressed on what project he'd like to act in next.
"Another Western series," said Fuller.
