Ron Howard and Henry Winkler reunited on the Emmys stage to celebrate Happy Days

We've been waiting all these years to hear Henry Winkler say "Ayyy!"

If you couldn't be bothered to watch The Emmys this year, we can't say that we blame you. With so many streaming services and television stations, it seems like there's constantly a new show that you just have to watch, only to be replaced by another show a minute later. Still, The Emmys are a time to honor the best of the best in television, even if the best premiered nearly fifty years ago.

For those who long for a simpler time, you're not alone. It's kind of what a show like Happy Days was made for. Though it premiered in 1974, Happy Days sought to capture the pure simplicity many lived through in the 1950s and 1960s.

This year, viewers were treated to a mini Happy Days reunion when Ron Howard and Henry Winkler graced the Emmys stage. Though Howard is mainly known for his directing work, he previously starred as the adolescent Richie Cunningham on Happy Days. Henry Winkler was best known for playing The Fonz, and if you don't know who The Fonz is, we pity you.

The two entered a reconstructed Arnold's Drive-In, a frequent hangout for Richie and the Fonz. Once on stage, with some encouragement from Howard, Winkler walked over to the jukebox on set and hit it, causing music to erupt.

Of course, Winkler was imitating one of Fonz's signature cool guy moves, which is just as charming today as it was all those years ago.

This wasn't just a one-off reunion between the two former costars; Howard and Winkler remain close to this day, and even still work together occasionally. While it's nice to celebrate the television of today, we appreciated that walk down memory lane, back to a time when those days were ours.

All I could think of watching them both on stage at the Emmys was how OLD they both looked. God! That's this thing called life I suppose. I wish they could've had Anson Williams and Don Most up there. Maybe Marion Ross if she was able but probably not at her age. Would've been a much better reunion if more of the surviving cast members could've showed up.

While I watched just a little of the Emmys, I missed this bit and had to seek it out on You Tube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TrL5gTXxCY

There are a lot of links, but most of them include a bunch of junk no one here would care about, or just info that we geezers already know. The above link is one that gets right to the point. If anyone finds a link to the bit in it's entirety without interruptions, please post!

Come on, get real. They only had a short time and you people want the whole cast on it including those who haven't been heard of for decades? Again, get real.
