Though not necessarily a direct sequel, War of the Colossal Beast serves as a follow-up to the 1957 film, The Amazing Colossal Man. Featuring an entirely new cast led by Sally Fraser, the film focuses on Joyce Manning’s attempts to rescue her brother, Glenn.

Known for her work in films like It Conquered the World (1956) and Giant from the Unknown (1957), Sally Fraser was no stranger to science-fiction films.

During promotion for War of the Colossal Beast, Fraser gushed regarding her love for the genre’s offbeat nature.

“I love making science-fiction movies,” said Fraser during an interview with The Albuquerque Tribune. “They are really different. In this latest one, I have a brother who is 68-feet tall.”

Originally a singer, Fraser also harbored dreams of combining her love of musical theatre and science fiction. “I have been trying to get my studio to let me do a science-fiction musical comedy movie,” said the actor. “But they tell me it wouldn’t sell.”

Years later, when reflecting on her career, Fraser admitted that she sometimes felt limited by her more outlandish films, but was ultimately grateful for her career as a whole.

“Sometimes it seems very strange to me that that kind of film is what people remember from a career that was much more diversified,” Fraser said during an interview with The Commercial Appeal. “But that’s all right. Until recently, I didn’t think anybody cared about my movies, other than my children!”
