Will & Grace will recreate iconic ''I Love Lucy'' moments — and feature Lucie Arnaz
The cast will be recreating three memorable I Love Lucy scenes
I Love Lucy left its mark on the television landscape forever. It is truly a mark to the incredible lasting power of the show that even now, decades later, people are still paying tribute.
The show Will & Grace, about a lawyer and an interior designer living together in New York, ran originally from 1998-2005 before being revived in 2017. We've just learned that during the final 2020 season, one of the final episodes will be an I Love Lucy tribute.
The tribute will be in the form of dream sequences through three characters, Grace (Debra Messing), Jack (Sean Hayes) and Karen (Megan Mullally) each taking on Lucy during different sequences.
Will (Eric McCormack) will be playing Ricky Ricardo in all the recreations, and the other two cast members who aren't currently Lucy will take turns playing Fred and Ethel.
What's really exciting is the news that Lucie Arnaz, the daughter of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, will be making a cameo on the show during the "chocolate factory scene." The scenes will be scripted exactly the same, which seems smart. How can you mess with something so enduring? The recreated scenes will be the chocolate factory scene (from "Job Switching"), the "Vitameatavegamin" scene (from "Lucy Does a TV Commercial"), and the grape-stomping scene (from "Lucy's Italian Movie").
Messing posted a picture of the cast dressed up as the I Love Lucy gang on her Instagram, as well as a close up of her own Lucille Ball makeup.
Most of the cast is easily recognizable, but Messing makes a surprisingly convincing Lucille Ball. We'll see how she compares to the real thing when the episode airs in the spring.
