Pick: What's your favorite TV Western?
Which Western heads 'em up?
Before The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp, TV Westerns were seriously just kiddie stuff.
That all changed once cowboys like Matt Dillon and Lucas McCain sauntered onscreen. After that, adult viewers couldn't get enough of hit shows like Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Wagon Train and many more.
But when it comes to the Old West, it's important to know your alliances. Ever wonder how many others agreed with you on which shows deserve the hat tip most from one of TV's earliest classic genres?
Pick your favorite TV Western below and see how many others chose to mosey along the same path as you.

70% Bonanza is my favorite, I also love Maverick, The Big Valley, The Rifleman and Gunsmoke. Sometimes Wagon Train can be good too.
100%, But enjoy all the rest, loved F-Troop as well. I don't remember Cimarron Strip' and never heard of Sugarfoot . It would be nice for a change up once in a while with some other shows. Like Combat, The Rat Patrol, etc.
100% SIMILAR with GUNSMOKE! This wasn't a surprise, I think the standout Westerns were those that not only had memorable stories but interesting CHARACTERS! Such as:
GUNSMOKE
BONANZA
THE BIG VALLEY
THE RIFLEMAN
The LONE RANGER
Ask me the names of characters from other Westerns and I couldn't tell you! I might do Okay with DANIEL BOONE but I don't consider that a western!

Just curious, noticed that today’s episode of Wagon Train is season 8. Season 6 just concluded. What happened to season 7?
I'm surprised "The Virginian" rated so low. Excellent stories, great guests - wonderful show that holds up even today.

Picked Have Gun-Will Travel. I lean towards Lawman, but that wasn't a choice.
Missing two of my favorites, "The Lone Ranger" and "Branded". (I guess I like the "outsider" heroes.)
While going through this list of Westerns, I kept thinking about how screwed up ME-TV's daily schedule appears to me. Why do they insist on showing these "adult" Westerns in the early afternoon while great family sitcoms like "I Love Lucy", "Leave It To Beaver", and "Donna Reed" get stuck around 5:00 AM? This makes no sense to me at all. Why not put the Westerns on after prime time when mature adults can watch and enjoy them and replace them in the daytime with Lucy, the Beaver and the others? It's so simple!
20% I love them all, but if I could only have one box set for life it would be "Have Gun Will Travel" all day long!
100% similar. My favorite TV western is The Lone Ranger, but it's not on the list. So I chose my 2nd favorite western, Gunsmoke.
