I thought it was Frankie Lyman and the Juniors.

I thought so, also.
But, according to Wikipedia (Iknow, I know), it was Danny and the Juniors and Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers.

I have to say I never encountered "Katrina and the Waves". What's a song from them that makes a good introduction?

BTW - thanks harlowe1313 and Cynthia for the music suggestions. I love "The Killing Moon" and "Cities in Dust" (I love the whole 'Tinderbox' album.) :)
Walking On Sunshine (Oh Oh) and don't it feel good!
Of course! I know the tune- just never associated a band with it. Thank you!

They also recorded the original version of "Going Down to Liverpool" which was later covered by the Bangles.
