60% I've seen the movie Apollo 13 with Tom Hanks when he said it in a line "Houston we have a problem."

80% Similar. I had a hard time on a few because of liking both so much. The no brainers for me were # 2, 3, 6, 7, 8 and 10. Have them all but Solaris.

60% similar. Number 8 was tough because saw Alien for the first time last year and it was one of the dullest movies I've seen in my life. Yes, Sigourney Weaver is great in it. Yes, the Xenomorph design is amazing. Yes, the sets and art direction are awe inspiring. But there are long lengths of the film, especially in the beginning, where **** all happens. I'm sorry, but Alien is overrated.

As is 2001: A Space Odyssey. Lots of moments where nothing happens and it's mostly screensavers set to classical music.

You may now throw rocks at me for my movie heresy.

Everyone has their likes and dislikes. For the 2001 Space Odyssey. Do not forget it was made in 1968 and far ahead of its time. Bringing you to the beginning of Mankind with apes before them. Then into the future and the possible meaning of not only life but the meaning of a monolith that was placed on Earth then later found on the moon with some sort of message to travel to Jupitar. Then of course the Hal 9000 computer that runs amuck and attempts to kill its occupants. Finally Dave is able to get aboard and dissemble Hal. All these events have their own Interpretation on what is really happening. A lot of sci-fi involved and possibilities.

Alien was one of those movies I watched and sort of feared to watch it again for 20 years. Finally ending my phobia of maniac clowns and Aliens (those type anyway) I am a huge Horror/sci-fi fan for all but those until just recently. I probably have most likely most films from the B movies of 1950's and before to many current ones. Maybe 400+.

Some films you have to wait them out. A build up to what's to happen later. Even Psycho did the same thing before Marian got to the Bates Motel. You just waited it out before the shower scene and what came after. Psycho a 10 for me and 2001 not far behind. Its just what floats ones boat. Some want immediate action while others want a slow build up to what's coming down that road. No rocks for you though. What you like or not is in your own hands.

The first one starts off slow, but ends up getting good. The sequel "Aliens' was much better.

I saw 2001 in the theaters, I found it boring.

To some it would be. Though out of 400,000 films since day one of motion pictures around the world. It is #98 All Time movie. This vote is by only viewers who rated it since IMDb was formed.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062622/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_8_nm_0_in_0_q_2001%2520space%2520odyssey%2520

Again it's just a matter of ones opinion and preference. It is okay to like or not like any film. It is in the top .01% Percentile of all movies.

90% similar. People seem to like "interstellar" more than "Solaris" but I never even heard of either one of them.
texasluva 8176Morgan 16 hours ago
Solaris is a Russian movie by Andrei Tarkovsky. Though he made it outside of Russia because they clamped down on him for making such movies "not state approved". I would say that 99% plus have never seen this movie or know of it.

Interstellar is a 2014 film one of the highest rated films with Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway. A well know movie to the masses. I have it and seen many times. It is a long movie but interesting none the less. The Earth is becoming a dust bowl and mankind needs to try and seek out other places for humans to live since crops are even hard to take care of. A long journey is made to find this place and the forces of Einstein's law comes into play. The ending is wonderful but sad in a way and since I do not wish to give its story to ruin it. I will let others judge by watching it. Slow at the start to try and understand what is going on and also characters in the film. Then it becomes mind boggling later on trip to far away places to search for a new home or possible other. It will take 2 hours and 50 minutes of your time.

70% I picked "The Martian" on #5. I would have picked Star Trek if they had "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" instead.
texasluva Peter_Falk_Fan 16 hours ago
The Martian is excellent. It has the qualities of a very good film. I agree with reasons of your choice.

80% similar. Where's Close Encounters? I liked that movie. Oh well.😉

80% similar. Being a big Terk fan you think I would have picked Star Trek the Motion Picture but I really liked The Martian better. I just felt the first Trek was slow and quite boring.

40%. I guess fire in the sky didn’t make it. Must be because it’s an Alien movie not really a space movie.
Bapa1 jodyh05 2 hours ago
Fire in the Sky is really good.
Poolboy13 23 hours ago
80% they should have included Dark Star by john carpenter.
Jacki Poolboy13 22 hours ago
I never saw that movie. How is it?
hrcopter 23 hours ago
40% similar. Can’t believe they pitted Star Wars against 2001. Those are the two best. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I never cared much for 2001: A Space Odyssey and neither did most of the viewers it would seemed at least when when compared to Star Wars.
texasluva 8176Morgan 1 hour ago
I think hrcopter meant for all the choices via the 2001 film. I believe it to be better then more then half of the 20 choices MeTV put up. Then again just a matter of opinion.
msciresi 23 hours ago
The Right Stuff was really good too.
Ratt1959 24 hours ago
90% I believe I have all of them but Wall-E.
deltadart 24 hours ago
Forbidden Planet Tops the list!
Ratt1959 deltadart 24 hours ago
I love the 50s space movies.
Snickers Ratt1959 22 hours ago
In agree. Nothing like 50's sci-fi
