Luckily, comic book fans are never without a new Batman adaptation for long. It seems that every year, there are new iterations of The Dark Knight, a new television series or film for fans to enjoy. Still, a fan never lets go of their favorite Batman, and for many, it was Adam West's portrayal in the 1960s live-action series.

Although the series enjoyed a relatively short life, it accumulated a rather large fan base, all of whom were heartbroken when the series was canceled in 1968.

Luckily, fans may dry their tears and rest easy, for Burt Ward, better known as Robin, revealed during an interview that the show's cancellation wasn't such a harsh blow.

"It wasn't really that traumatic," said Ward during an interview with The Greensboro Record. "You have to understand that the ego wasn't really there because when you're working on the show, you don't have time."

Isolated from the world, Ward didn't have any idea just how famous he and West had become. "I made 137 of the shows, so you can imagine how much of my life was spent on that soundstage," said the actor.

Furthermore, playing the Boy Wonder took a toll on Ward, both physically and mentally. It was to the point where the show's cancellation felt fairly bittersweet.

"Adam and I used to say that we put on our tights to put on the world," said Ward. "I really didn't want it to be over in a way, but in another way, it was a relief. I needed a long rest to recuperate. It was a nice breather."
