Fans loved Bill Raisch so much they wanted his character to walk free in The Fugitive
Raisch had a loyal fanbase.

Sometimes, the bad guys get to have more fun. Sure, supporting the hero is fun, but who doesn't love an underdog?
Although he was undoubtedly the villain in The Fugitive, Bill Raisch certainly enjoyed his fair share of fans.
David Jansen chased Raisch's character, The One-Armed Man, throughout the show's four seasons. Although Raisch's appearances were infrequent, that didn't stop him from receiving a lot of love from both fans and writers alike.
"I get fan mail," said Raisch during an interview with the Deseret News. "Some writers even think me innocent. They want this Kimble to give himself up and take the heat off me."
During another interview with The Omaha World-Herald, Raisch also said that many fans wanted Lt. Philip Gerard, played by Barry Morse, to take the fall for the murder of Kimble's wife. This way, the One-Armed Man would be able to walk free.
"Funny thing is, most of the fans think I'm innocent," said the actor. "Some want the detective in the show to take the rap for the murder."
Having lost his arm during World War II, Raisch credited The Fugitive with helping his career as an actor. As the One-Armed Man, Raisch was a star.
"With one flipper, I'm lucky to have a stand-in job," said Raisch. "I've been Burt Lancaster's stand-in for 14 years...But now, I'm also a celebrity," said the actor. "I have an artificial arm I wear sometimes, and still people stop me and ask me to turn myself in to the police."
