This comedian was Susan Olsen's favorite guest star on The Brady Bunch
"It was a unique experience," said the actor of her time on the series.
Though it's earned a place in television history, no one can deny that a show like The Brady Bunch is an acquired taste. Even Susan Olsen, who starred in the series, left the entertainment industry after she was unable to shed the image of Cindy Brady.
“After 10 years, I’m realizing that I shouldn’t have given up, and that now it’s really OK to have been on The Brady Bunch,” Olsen said during an interview with the New York Daily News. “It’s actually cool - there are people who I really respect who are fans.”
When starring on the hit series, Olsen was able to meet a fair share of celebrities who had been brought in to guest star in The Brady Bunch. Of the many that came on set, Olsen had chosen a favorite in comedian Imogene Coca, who appeared in the episode “Jan’s Aunt Jenny.”
“I knew a lot of classic TV stuff,” said Olsen during an interview with ReMIND. “I wasn’t that familiar with her, but it was really amazing to me that she was so shy, and then she had a hard time rehearsing. Then once the cameras were on, just changed, went right into the performance…I was fascinated with her.”
Today, Olsen is able to look back at her time on The Brady Bunch fondly.
“It was a unique experience, and I think that’s because we [the cast] had such great chemistry, and we all got along well,” Olsen said to the New York Daily News. “That’s why the show was so successful, because, let’s face it, it wasn’t the scripts.”
