9 Lives VS 1 Each: Guess Who Wins? “Shadow of the Cat” Tonight!

Posted on July 18, 2015

Tonight on MeTV, we present a fiendish feline flick from the Hammer folks- as greedy relatives learn  that, if they don't take pity- beware the kitty; it's "Shadow of the Cat"!

A wealthy old lady has no great love for her family- that is, all but her favorite niece- and her most loyal friend, her pet cat Tabitha. When she is murdered (with the cat as the only witness)- her family puts out word that she has "disappeared"- and gleefully anticipates cashing in on the inheritance of her fortune- as the old lady's scheming hubby manipulates his relatives and servants- and , realizing that the cat has been witness to all the nasty stuff going on,decides that the kitty has to be gotten rid of! ( As if a cat's testimony is valid evidence?!) Meanwhile, favorite niece Beth arrives, and, along with local journalist Conrad, complicates the family members' plans to off the feline and claim the riches. The duo are suspicious of the whole "disappearance" angle- and  don't trust the concerned  relatives and household staff. Strange sounds at night- and the obsessive hatred of Tabitha- bring more suspicion- and then it seems that the cat  just might be out for revenge!

This  is a fun creepy movie- that includes the amazing process we call "Kitty-Vision" to give you Tabitha's point of view! Barbara Shelley as the old lady's beloved niece proves to be a fine leading lady- and the cast  of actors playing the despicable relatives do a  great job of earning our disdain!

We've got some movie background, and Sven shtick- plus  some interviews with comic artist Jill Thompson and  "Face-Off" make-up and effects master Anthony Kozart! All in all, an entertaining Sven program that should keep you away from cat videos on the internet for at least two hours! Speaking of the internet- MeTV has been encouraging our viewers to Tweet while watching our shows- from what I've been told, the Twitterverse has been going crazy during the Sven show on Saturdays- using the hashtag " #svengoolie" and posting a record number of Tweets! Feel free to join in and use that hashtag.

"Shadow of the Cat" appears on MeTV tonight at 10 pm eastern/pacific, 9 central, or, check the local listings in your area to find our start time. In Chicago, viewers can see (sigh- okay- "or TRY to see") "The Invisible Man" at 11 am on our sister station, WCIU, the U!

Please start making plans now to come visit with me at the Flashback Weekend horror convention in Rosemont the weekend of August 8th! That Saturday finds me signing autographs and hosting the always- entertaining costume contest- and Sunday is a big family day- when I'll present the famed stop-motion animation film "Mad Monster Party" -featuring the voices of Boris Karloff and Phyllis Diller! We'll also do some audience participation stuff that could include you and a family member! I'll write more about it along the way- meanwhile, just click on the "appearances" tab here on the site for more info!

Later in August, my alter ego, Rich Koz, will help m.c. the Brookfield/Lincoln Park Zoos annual "Bowling for Rhinos" event in Chicago- check back here for more details soon!

I hope you'll tune in tonight for the supernatural cat tale - or, should I have said "TUNA in"? (No, probably not...)
