A Few Mid-Week Words

THIS JUST IN: This Saturday morning's Sven Chicago "second run" of "Monster on the Campus" will be airing on subchannel WCIU Too at 11 am, due to a college football game that has to run on the main WCIU station. Please spread the word.

For those interested, I will be appearing at the  "Bizarre Bazaar" in Hammond, Indiana, this Saturday from noon to 2 pm. There's free admission and free parking- lots to do for the entire family, entertainment, music, food, and, they are encouraging folks to dress as their favorite monster from  movies we show and take part in a costume contest! Of course, I'll be taking photos with you, and signing autographs, so make sure you get in line early- the line will be stopped when it appears to  have enough people to take me up to the 2 pm out time! It was two years ago on this day that my mentor, friend and role model Jerry G Bishop, the original Svengoolie, passed away. I sadly remember getting the phone call from his family- and feeling stunned and numb at the news.  As you may know, I worked with Jerry in both TV and radio- and it was indeed his idea that I be the successor to his character. His generosity and belief in me that I could  carry on the Sven tradition meant a lot to me- and he opened many doors for me from the beginning of our knowing each other. One of my biggest regrets is that there never was the opportunity for he and I to work together- in radio or TV- once I had made it to a level comparable to his. What a riot that would have been! He was a great talent and a good man- and, as I have said before, I feel that I owe everything to him. Please remember him- with a smile- today.

The "sold out" Sven t-shirt problem will be remedied within a few weeks- hopefully, just in time for  Halloween season sales- as we switch vendors for a new order fulfillment plan. Thanks for your patience!
