BOO-Nanza Starts One Hour Earlier-with Little People- (Munchkins and Evil Chimney Sprites)- Tonight!

Posted on October 31, 2026

Tonight on MeTV- we conclude this month’s Halloween BOO-nanza with a final double feature-an encore of “Wizard of Oz”- followed by an eerie made-for-TV movie that hits some viewers as hard as the last segment of “Trilogy of Terror”- “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark”!

First up- we take one more trip over the rainbow- with the great 1939 classic story of a young girl who finds herself transported by a twister to a faraway land inhabited by little people, witches good and bad, and three loyal companions- a scarecrow who needs a brain- a tin woodsman who needs a heart- and a lion who desperately needs some courage- as well as Dorothy wanting to return home to Kansas. These needs can only be fulfilled by the famed Wizard of the Emerald City – but an evil wicked witch stands in the way- because she wants the ruby slippers slipped to Dorothy by the good with Glinda. Dorthy faces her ultimate peril in Oz when the Wizard demands that she and her pals must complete a dangerous deed that will pit them against the dangerous Wicked Witch!

Of course, we’ll talk about the great cast members, as the Sven Squad joins me for some Oz antics, plus a “Too Drawn Out” and more.

Then- it’s the second feature – “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark”! The supposedly happy event of Sally moving into a charming old house with her husband takes a nasty turn- when she goes into the basement and sees a bricked-up fireplace. She’s thinking of unbricking the hearth and having an office down there- but her handyman warns against it, without specifying why.

Of course, Sally is undeterred- and finds a little side door on the chimney used to remove ashes. Looking in, she sees what appears to be a pit. Before long, she starts hearing whispering voices calling her name and seeing – and feeling- odd happenings throughout the house.

Things get more threatening with the appearance of small goblin-like creatures who are after Sally- even threatening her with a straight razor! However, no one will believe her, especially her husband Alex- but the handyman has some frightening insight that can only make Sally feel more frightened!

This 1973 made-for-TV movie stars Kim Darby of the original “True Grit” with John Wayne-along with some other familiar faces. We’ll introduce you to the players, and bring you a new song, plus Nostalgiaferatoo getting unreal with real estate!

Our final double feature begins tonight on MeTV at a special time- 7 pm eastern/pacific, 6 pm central time. Of course, you can treat yourself and other viewers by posting live comments during the evening on both Bluesky and Twitter/X- just add the hashtag #svengoolie to whatever you Tweet or post. Chicago area viewers can get in the Halloween mood this morning with an encore double feature of “Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man” plus the Sven Squad with “Revenge of the Creature” starting at 11 am on WCIU the U!

We appreciate the great reaction we’ve gotten from our viewers to this year’s BOO-nanza- and will try to do it again next year! I also want to thank all the visitors to my appearances this month- we wind things up today at the (sorry) sold-out Volo Museum event!

While you’re in a creepy mood- you can still order the latest Sven merchandise in our store! You can pick up the incredible Sven inflatable hearse, as well as other items- since, for us, Halloween lasts all year long!

The BOO-nanza may be finishing- but next month we will continue with a schedule of freaky films- including a couple of often-requested ones! Plus- there are some changes in our Super Sci Fi Saturday Night schedule coming up that may surprise you!

Tonight- help us celebrate Halloween with our double feature-of lions and slicers and scares- oh my! And…don’t forget to turn your clocks back an hour tonight!
