Caught Between Rock and a Hard Place- “Monolith Monsters” Tonight!

Posted on January 11, 2014

It's a stone cold assault tonight on our show, as we continue to "ROCK in the New Year" with some sinister stones that could crush humanity- "The Monolith Monsters"!

A meteor crashes into the desert, spreading shards of itself all over- and a geologist, who stops to add water to his radiator, happens upon a fragment and takes it back to his office. That night, a storm hits, and wakes up the man- who notices something strange happening to the rock fragment...

When Dave, the head of the federal geology office arrives there the next day- he is aghast to find the office trashed- and the man literally  turned to stone! There are also more of the strange rocks around the disheveled office- but no explanations of what happened- to the premises or his coworker.

When there are more cases of the strange petrification- more destruction and more rocks- and victims who seem to be slowly turning to stone after contact with the strange fragments- Dave, his girlfriend Cathy, and his old college professor struggle to solve the mystery of the rocks- only to discover that the meteor rocks are multiplying and growing into towering stone obelisks that collapse, crushing anything in their path- and then start growing again! If their growth and movement can't be stopped-the monoliths will soon destroy towns, cities, and their inhabitants!

This unusual 1957 science fiction film takes a different road than the usual 50s plot of atomic radiation turning living things into threats, and features some very familiar 50s faces. We'll tell you all about them- as well as doing our own" research" with a questionable "rock expert" along with a song and more Sven shtick.

"The Monolith Monsters" will rock your world tonight on Me-TV at 10 pm eastern and pacific, 9 pm central, and, if you're not sure what time we run where you are, please check your local listings. We're happy to hear that some of our east coast viewers now can see us instead of infomercials, and that our Dallas/Fort Worth fans also are enjoying the show again! (Watch for even more availability thanks to Me-TV in various places!)

For our Chicago area fans, you get another look at "King Kong Escapes" on WCIU, the U, at 11 am. We know that there were some transmission problems locally in Chicago during our Me-TV broadcast, blanking out some of the movie as well as the mail segment from the show- so, you can catch up on what you miss on the U! (The mail segment has also been posted under the videos on this website...)

Join us tonight as our "ROCK in the  New Year" month continues- and, it looks like "Wonder Woman" joining our Saturday night line-up is a success (she didn't even have to put me in her 'lasso of truth" to get me to say that!)- so, we've got another full night of  superheroes, sci fi, and fun for you tonight on Me-TV!
