Double Feature with Frank, Wolfie and the Creature - Tonight's BOO-nanza Bone-Chiller!

Posted on October 24, 2026

Tonight on MeTV- it’s classic Universal Studios horror – with three of their most memorable monsters- The Wolf Man and Frankenstein Monster from the original horror cornerstones- and the 1950s addition to the ghastly greats- the Gill Man! Double down on the monstrous double feature of “Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man” and “Revenge of the Creature”!

First up- we pick up the story of the late Larry Talbot- who was put out of his misery in the original “Wolf Man” -only to return to it when grave robbers accidentally expose him to the full moon’s light! We jump forward in time- where an injured Larry is in a hospital- and tells authorities he is Larry Talbot- only to have them find out- that man is dead! Larry flees from the institution and searches out the wise old Meleva the gypsy woman- who suggests the only person who might cure him is a renowned doctor she has heard of -Victor Frankenstein! (Uh-oh!)

They travel to the doctor’s old home village- only to find his estate in ruins- but also finding his Monster frozen in ice ( he ended up that way after “Son of Frankenstein”)! They thaw him out- but trouble boils over at a local festival when Larry interacts with the doctor’s daughter- one of the doctors from that institution finds Larry- and – the unrefrigerated Monster strolls into town!

This 1943 scare fest has, of all people, Bela Lugosi as the Monster, as well as, of course, Lon Chaney Jr. as the Wolf Man. We’ll discuss the rest of the cast- and, since it’s a wolf man feature- show part of our live talk show with none other than David Naughton- star of “American Werewolf in London”- and, since this film may cause you to scream- our pal from the “Scream” movie series- David Arquette! Add “Too Drawn Out”- the Sven Squad- and more- plus some gridiron giggles in a football “Fractured Flickers”!

Speaking of the Sven Squad, they then take over for our second feature- “Revenge of the Creature” (yes, I’ve run it before- and, yes, that was the movie I ran in 3 D locally in Chicago in the 80s). The Squad has it in amazing 2 D- with an expedition back to the Black Lagoon after rumors surface that the Gill Man has survived the happenings of the original “Creature from the Black Lagoon” film. Our old friend Captain Lucas has reluctantly agreed to lead the group through the dangerous area where- what a surprise!- the Gill Man appears! After several attempts at capturing him, they finally succeed- and bring him to -a Florida theme park?! Oh, not as a tourist attraction -nudge-nudge, wink-wink- but to be studied.

That goes smoothly- until the fully revived Creature escapes his holding tank and sends the crowd of theme park visitors stampeding. Fortunately, he is recaptured and chained up in larger tank- where we actually get another woman in a white bathing suit, just like in the first film, that the Gill Man can find very attractive. His frustrations with imprisonment- and reactions to certain outside stimulus- are enough to spur him to use his intellect and power to escape confinement, leave the park- and beginning a reign of terror across the state of Florida!

This sequel from 1955 has a sort of “King Kong” feel to it, and the rivalry between the two main male characters, played by John Agar and John “Mr. Sportsman” Bromfield, and their tussles over leading lady Lori Nelson add extra tension to this Gill Man saga. Gwengoolie, the Imp, and Nostalgiaferatoo have plenty of insight into this film, as well as a major helping of Squad shtick- that keeps the fun afloat through the whole movie!
