Faux Munsters, Dogs, Zombies, and 3-D? The Sven Tour Continues!

Posted on October 21, 2012

We survived giant bugs at Brookfield Zoo- monstrous mayhem at Creepy Hallow- and today, at 1 pm, we'll be at the Portage Theater to meet and greet before introducing the Tim Burton film "Beetlejuice"- but- will that finish our Halloween season tour? NO!!! There's still more to come- next Friday, it's a unique late-afternoon event: WGN radio (720 AM) presents a live broadcast of the Garry Meier show- at the Asylum Xperiment at the Odeum in Villa Park. Adding to the fun- Garry and his staff will be costumed and made-up as -the Munsters! I'll be making a guest appearance from 4 to 5 pm, and you're invited to attend- BUT-you need to pre-register for the event- to do so, go to Garry's page at the WGN radio website. Once you sign up, you'll be able to enjoy the broadcast and plenty of perks- but you must pre-register!If you can't be there, you can listen on WGN. Next week Saturday, there's plenty more fun- from 1 to 3 pm, I'l be at the Parker's annual "Bark-o-ween" celebration- a great event with a Sven- m.c.ed pet costume contest (owners should dress up too- there are lots of categories and prizes!) plus a big sale on pet needs.Parker's is at 1340 E. 55th Street in Chicago-even if you don't have a pet, come out and enjoy the creative costumes with me! Then, later that evening- we'll make a stop at the WGN radio studios, this time as guest of our pal Nick Digilio around 7 pm.-if they let him broadcast from their showcase studio, you can come and watch on Michigan Avenue! We'll leave there and head for the huge Halloween street party in the zombie-infested downtown Elgin area-(in the safe zone, of course)- it's the return of "Nightmare on Chicago Street"-with food, vendors, bands, and more among great special effects that make the area look like "Walking Dead in the Western Suburbs"! Come out in costume for big time fun- I'll be there from 9 to 11 pm- you can get autographs, take photos, and-I'll be on stage to crown the winner of the "Miss Zombie" pageant! They are promising surprises for us, as well...so head to downtown Elgin and -watch out for zombies! Entries to the zombie-free zone will be clearly marked...we hope. Then, on Sunday, it seems I'll go full circle in my career, involving the Gill Man and 3-D- when I sign autographs, take pictures, and introduce an special screening of "Creature from the Black Lagoon" in 3-D at the Muvico Theaters in Rosemont! Seating is limited, there will be lots of special Halloween fun (check out the schedule under our "appearances" tab) and remember, I will only be meeting people who have tickets for the event that afternoon- so go to www.muvico.com to get your tickets! There will be a few more media appearances coming up as well- so check that appearance tab here on the site, as well as checking this blog every day...which, by a coincidence, continues to feature a "Halloween Horror of the Day" every day of October- and today is no exception! Today's "Halloween Horror" is -the "Fiend Without a Face"!This menace is invisible at first- an intelligent and evil lifeforce created by extreme nuclear energy, which ends up removing the brains and spinal columns of victims- and spreading its conciousness into these human remains, creating an invisible army that begins to wipe out the local population. Higher levels of nuclear power make the crawling brain/spine creatures visible- and they corner a group of survivors in a house with the intent of ending human interference in their growth! This 1958 film is real favorite- I've noticed a lot of people remember it, but NOT its name!I would love to get broadcast rights to show it on our program- but, until that happens, we'll just have to be satisfied with the "Fiend Without a Face" being the "Halloween Horror of the Day"!
