Flashback This Afternoon- AND Tonight During “The Mummy’s Hand”!

Posted on August 10, 2013

It's a busy and fun Saturday- as we visit the always-entertaining Flashback Weekend horror convention this afternoon- and revisit past Flashback events during tonight's Sven feature on Me-TV- "The Mummy's Hand"!

As I've mentioned- I'm at Flashback at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare today, 2-4 pm signing, then following that up hosting their costume contest- then tonight, we'll show some of the highlights from our past visits to this annual event during the first sequel to the original "Mummy"!

This 1940 follow-up to Karloff's "Mummy" features Tom Tyler as Kharis- the living mummy who protects the tomb of his long lost love Ananka. A couple down-on-their luck archeologists stumble on a clue to the resting place of Ananka, and, with the aid of a wacky magician's daughter, head for the tomb- but an evil high priest thwarts them through the power of the mouldering  mummy.

You see some footage of the original movie, augmented by new shots inserted to substitute Tyler for Karloff-and this film sets up the next few sequels in the Mummy franchise. Be prepared-there's "comic relief" from Wallace Ford as Babe Jenson, assistant to our hero Dick Foran. We'll run down the cast, point out some interesting trivia, and, as I mentioned, show you some clips of our visits to Flashback Weekend in previous years, including some of the cool people we've run into, as we celebrate 10 years of Flashback!

"The Mummy's Hand" runs tonight on Me-TV- at 10 pm eastern and pacific, 9 pm central, and please check local listings for the time in your area!

Hope many of you can come visit us at Flashback Weekend- and we'll be at our usual place tonight for Mummy mayhem!(Oh, yes- in Chicago, the Gill Man resurfaces at 11 am on WCIU in "Revenge of the Creature".

A quick note- we got to attend our friend WWE Hall of Famer, author, and Santa Claus fan Mick Foley's comedy show at Zanies in Rosemont this week- and Mick is hilarious! He tells great stories, does a great impression of Vince MacMahon (among others) and kept everybody laughing through the entire show. If Mick comes to your area- go see him! It's a body slam to your funny bone!
