Grab a Bite on the Beach- It’s “Barracuda”- Tonight!

Posted on November 11, 2017

Some Florida waters are being fouled by a local factory- but that's not the only danger- when swimmers encounter gills and gore courtesy of the -"Barracuda"!

While divers along the Florida coast are plagued by the toothy terrors, Mike, a young biologist from a nearby university, is investigating  some possibly polluting output from an area factory that is a main source of employment in the town of Palm Cove. He manages to take some samples of whatever is spewing from an underwater pipe- but the factory owner doesn't take kindly to his trespassing, and has him arrested! His time in jail is made slightly more pleasant by the kind-hearted sheriff and his cute daughter Liza. The young lady brings him to the town's doctor for treatment of a coral scrape on his leg, and he tells Dr. Snow a little about why he's here in town.

The barracuda aren't the only ones being aggressive in the area- it seems some of the local townfolk are also getting nasty with each other. Meanwhile, there are more barracuda attacks- strange spates of dead fish on the beach- and some mysterious men in black suits prowling the area. Mike remains a target for the factory owner as he tries to determine what is exactly being put out into the local waters- and things become just as dangerous on land as they are in the ocean!

This 1978 film - which we have edited both due to its length and for some over-the-top gore-  is a product of  the fad that was started by "Jaws" and "Piranha". We'll tell you about the cast, bring you a tune based on a Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon hit- and get a special in-studio visit from our pal David Dastmalchian (  Murdoc on the new "MacGyver" reboot, Kurt in "Ant Man", Abra Kadabra in "The Flash", etc.)- playing a character who might be able to help us understand what's going on with the fish; plus- an interview with another actor- "Booger "from "Revenge of the Nerds", as well as many other roles  in "Moonlighting" and "Supernatural"- Curtis Armstrong!

"Barracuda" swims into sight tonight on MeTV at 8 pm eastern/pacific, 7 central, or check your local listings (or at www.metv.com) for channel and time in your area.Chicago area viewers will see an encore of "Deadly Mantis" at 11 am on WCIU, the U.

On this special day, we'd like to salute all of our veterans- men and women  whose service to our country has meant so much to us.

I hope you've checked out the new button set in our store, created by our two famed comics artist pals, Alex Ross and Scott Shaw! (For those who may not know- Alex's incredible photo-realistic art is based on one of his most famous masterpieces- a rendering of Batman foe the Joker and his silly and sultry sidekick Harley Quinn.) We've already had  lots of orders for this set- please make sure to order yours  asap!

We had a great time at Zanies last weekend, as a guest on Dana Gould's podcast- a great audience, and lots of laughs, with a wide range of subjects from horror films to the 3 Stooges and career stories. It was a real honor to be asked to appear there- we'll let you know when the podcast will be available!

We're enjoying a brief respite from the road- but in a few weeks- Sventa Claus will be making his rounds! Meanwhile, we are hard at work on shows  for 2018- with a nice mix of previous programs and some new shows from various sources. I think you'll find some surprises in our schedule next year!

Come grab a bite with us tonight on MeTV- you bring the bait  (or- BE the bait!)
