Karloff VS Lugosi over ‘The Invisible Ray”-Tonight!

With no hockey playoffs to make you ponder channel switching, we are happy to bring you a new show featuring a creepy film with those masters of horror Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi-  in a battle over what could be a medical miracle-or the cause of instant death- in "The Invisible Ray"!

An elite scientific group- and some relatives- come to the isolated sanctuary of Dr. Janos Rukh, who claims to have proof- from the  distant past- of an amazing discovery! Dr. Benet, who has challenged Rukh before on his beliefs, begrudgingly joins his comrades and their nephew and Rukh's lovely young wife- for an amazing display that proves a meteor crashed in Africa many years ago- and that meteor may contain an element that can provide amazing power! The display convinces even the adversarial Dr. Benet to agree to an expedition to find that element...but Janos' mother warns him he shouldn't mix with these people...due to his own nature.

The quest begins- with Janos' wife and the nephew  fighting their attraction to each other,as the party swelters in Africa, and Janos goes off on his own- where he finds the element- but his suspicious and angry nature surfaces- as does a terrible side effect of the element's radiation- the touch of...death! When the rest of the party utilizes the element for healing- Janos seeks revenge!

This intriguing 1936 feature is definitely worthy of attention- and we'll fill you in on the rest of the cast beyond the two stars we are so familiar with- as well as pointing out some things that are a sign of those times, as well as what you might see elsewhere! We have lots of fun Sven stuff too- including an "on the road" segment!

"Invisible Ray" airs tonight, winding up "The Doctor is In-SANE" month on Svengoolie, on Me-TV- 10 pm eastern and pacific, 9 pm central, or please check your local listings to find out what time we run where you are. In Chicago, you can catch the encore of "Invisible Man's Revenge" (no, his name is NOT "Ray" and it isn't the same movie we have tonight) on WCIU, Chicago's U, at 11 am.
