Make Your Bed- and End Up Dead? “Pillow of Death” Tonight!

Posted on June 11, 2016

We return to the "Inner Sanctum" with our usual companion,Lon Chaney Jr, tonight- with scandalous behavior, seances, and several suspects mixed into a story smothered in murder- "Pillow of Death"!

The eccentric Kincaid family, living in a supposedly haunted mansion, are at odds with each other over niece Donna's "carrying on" with her married boss- lawyer Wayne Fletcher. Wayne is ready to face his wife and demand a divorce- but it's a little late for that- she's been found dead, smothered in her bed! Her body was discovered by the Kincaid family's personal psychic Julian- and police inspector  Captain McCracken decides it's necessary to herd everyone into the Kincaid house and go over everyone's alibis.

There appear to be a few suspects in the murder hanging around the house- but not enough evidence so far to hold anybody. There are attempts to contact spirits who have passed on that might reveal the truth about what's going on- or possibly flush out a responsible party; plus some ghostly goings-on, a Peeping Tom, and revelations about the family psychic. None of this really pins down who the guilty party is- and things get stranger as there are MORE smothering deaths- and enough bizarre occurrences standing in the way of McCracken crackin' the case!

This 1945 film was the last in the Universal "Inner Sanctum" series- and is even devoid of the usual intro by the floating head in the glass orb! As in all the previous films, the leading man is none other than Lon Chaney Jr.- doing plenty of voice-overs of his thoughts; plus several other cast members, a couple whom you know from their famous other roles. We'll tell you all about them, and bring you some fun Sven stuff- including a fairly obvious commercial parody and a very special feature , taking you behind the scenes of the Sven show to meet members of our staff and see what they do!

"Pillow of Death" appears tonight on MeTV at 10 pm eastern/pacific, 9 central, or check your local listings (or at www.metv.com) for run time and channel where you are. Our Chicago fans get another look at June Lockhart in "She Wolf of London" on our sister station, WCIU, the U, at 11 am.

Don't forget that you can meet me late afternoon today, at my annual appearance at the Hardcore Hearse show at the Brauerhouse in Lombard , IL. I will be there from 5 to 7 pm (with 7 being the definite out time- so, please, get there early before we have to cut the line)! Check out full information here on our website under "appearances".
