“March Badness” Begins with Bad Men (and a Woman) VS “Batman”- Tonight!

Posted on March 1, 2014

Holy Final- or Fatal- FOUR! The Svengoolie "March Badness" tourney kicks off tonight as a team of top-seeded villains take on  the Dynamic Duo in the classic 1966 "Batman- the Movie"!

Just a quick note- yes, we KNOW this isn't a horror film- but, when we ran this movie a couple years ago, we got a huge response, so- when  it became available again- our management jumped to get it for us. Don't worry- we return to horror next week, as "March Badness" marches on!

Meanwhile- in Gotham City- four of the most treacherous foes of the Caped Crusader are not only on the loose- but have banded together in a vicious plot  to cause international chaos! They've appropriated a weapon that can dehydrate  any human into a pile of dust-and, cruising undetected in the Penguin's submarine (slightly more flashy than the one in "King Kong VS Godzilla")- the Riddler, Catwoman , the Joker, and Pengy set out to dry up the United World Organization Security Council- sending the whole world into panic mode!

This movie was originally made to introduce the Batman series characters to the public BEFORE the series premiered- but ended up being released after Batmania was well under way. With all the show's actors intact, except for the purrr-fectly lovely Julie Newmar being replaced by Lee Meriweather as Catwoman, it's like one super-sized Batman TV episode ( a fitting follow-up to the regularly scheduled Batman show you can see this very evening at 7/6pm  central time on  Me-TV!) - and has a couple pretty famous moments- including Batman's battle with a shark- and his efforts to dispose of a bomb! We'll go over the cast, give you behind the scenes info, and bring you plenty of Bat-shtick.

"Batman: the Movie" roars out of the Bat Cave tonight at our same Sven-time, same Sven-channel: 10 /9 central on Me-TV (check your local listings if  you're unsure when we air in your area!) I hope you tune in to see the pre-show open, when we give you this month's theme- the opening piece is a lot of fun! And, next week, we had back to some classic horror for the rest of the month.
