No Jive- Turkey!

Posted on November 26, 2014

I just wanted to wish all you loyal Sven fans who stop by the blog and comment every week a very happy Thanksgiving- hope you get to spend it with loved ones, and give thanks for all the good in your life. I certainly give thanks for your constant support- it means a lot to me.

I noticed a lot of talk about old radio- I've enjoyed many of the old shows- my friend Steve Darnall hosts the weekly "Those Were the Days" radio show, which airs in the Chicago area and is also available online, and presents a very wide variety of entertainment from radio's golden age.  You can find out more about the show, and even listen to it at www.nostalgiadigest.com

Though I've done most of my radio work in the current age, I have worked on some programming that  has roots in that old programming- I had the good fortune to work with the great Dick Orkin on  one run of his beloved comedic episodic radio series "Chicken Man", both writing and playing characters in the adventures of the hapless crime-fighter. I was involved in the run of programs in which the Winged Warrior, feeling that time had passed him by, opened his own crime-fighting school- and had only one student.I got to work on other projects and radio commercials with Dick, and it was a wonderful experience to see a true master at work- I learned a lot from him!

Please enjoy what will be an extended weekend for many of you- and come back on Saturday for the lowdown on this week's show. The Sven monthly newsletter should come out on Monday, and  we're in the middle of working out a few Sventa Claus appearances for the holiday season!

Have a great Thanksgiving- hopefully with turkey, and no rubber chickens (except Kerwyn, who says he'll stick with the yams!)
