No Need for the Mayflower to Visit “The Land Unknown” Tonight!

While next Thursday, we commemorate the gratitude of the Pilgrims who traveled to an unknown land- tonight on MeTV, we join an intrepid group of explorers who discover, in an area perfect for storing a frozen turkey- a steamy tropical sector hot enough to reheat the candied yams- where they must avoid being the stuffing in large prehistoric beasts- as they are marooned in "The Land Unknown"!

It's off to the the frigid Antarctic- as a naval expedition is sent to investigate a strange phenomenon- an unexplained temperate zone right in the  midst of the frozen south . Commander Roberts leads the group, which includes two of his men- and the lovely Maggie, a reporter coming along to chronicle the findings while fending off sexist attitudes -to some extent. As they near the mysterious area ,a warning  sounds- a powerful storm is approaching, and they need to return to their ship for safety's sake. The bad weather bears down on them too soon, and , while attempting to avoid it-  their helicopter's rotor is struck by something unseen, causing dangerous damage and requiring them to set down anywhere they can!

They drop down and manage to find a place to crash-land- and it appears they have done their job too well, because they have landed right in the warmer place they were seeking-which appears to be a steaming tropical jungle! They attempt, in vain, to radio for help- while realizing that repairing their copter may be impossible- when the impossible is given new meaning by the discovery of  beasts long thought to be extinct- dinosaurs! And- even more unbelievable- they find what may be footprints of- a human being!

The expedition members are plagued by prehistoric creatures from all points- on the land, in the water, and in the air- plus a jungle full dangers like carnivorous plants and - the owner of those footprints, who has his own savage agenda!  Will the crew have to stay trapped in this tropical realm- and can they survive the many threats to their existence?

This 1957  science fiction film is known for its dinosaurs- one in particular, which we'll talk about-and we'll intro our cast ( leading man Jock Mahoney is a former Tarzan- we show a photo that some have debated actually ISN'T him, but a guy who played a jungle man on"Gilligan's Island"!) - and, we have segments including a visit with a dinosaur(?!) and some highlights from one of the past C2E2 comic and entertainment conventions - with fabulous costumes,and incredible guests –  like longtime Sven fan CM Punk, talking about new frontiers he was exploring at the time.
