One If By Land-“Creature Walks Among Us” Tonight!

Posted on July 4, 2015

Hooray for the Red, White, and BOO! The 4th of July brings some fireworks that adversely effect the Gill Man, turning him  into an air breather, and bringing the warning that "The Creature Walks Among Us"!

Yes, it's the final chapter of the Gill Man trilogy- with a wealthy (and somewhat unstable) scientist-Dr. William Barton- and his mistreated wife Marcia paying for an expedition to find the famed Black Lagoon resident who apparently still survives, and has been tracked to the Everglades. Geneticist Tom Morgan is part of the group, along with some associates and a rather sleazy guide-and they work on tracking down their quarry- making time, of course, for Marcia to take a  swim in the pre-requesite white bathing suit to attract the Creature's attention! The crew's searching pays off- they finally face the dangerous Gill Man, but, during a battle, he ends up badly burned- so badly burned, his gills are destroyed! When x-rays show he actually has a back-up set of lungs- the decision is made to operate on him- to allow him to use the lungs to breathe. Dr. Barton seems to think this is a major step in evolution, and plans to house the De-Gilled Man at his mansion/zoo/compound for study.  The Creature must learn to deal with the fact that he can no longer dwell in the water nor breathe in it.Meanwhile, with questions of how civilized or how animalistic the Gill Man can be, and if he can "evolve" further, we see some less than evolved actions between the so-called humans- and the Creature proves to be a dangerous houseguest!

This 1956  wind-up to the Creature's saga again makes changes in the looks of the Gill Man- we'll fill you in on who's wearing the Creature suit, as well as who's who in the cast- including a pair of actors whom we've seen before in "This Island Earth". Plus, we try to teach the  Creature, who always seems to come on a little too strong, how to correctly approach a lady- and more!

"The Creature Walks Among Us" strolls onto MeTV tonight at 10 pm eastern/pacific, 9 central, or check listings for the run time in your area. If there is a conflict, please feel free to record the show while you enjoy your July 4th fireworks! Chicago viewers who are not lured out to watch a parade or two will find a second run of "Cult of the Cobra" slithering along on WCIU, the U, at 11 am!

Please have a fun- and safe- 4th of July celebration! (Remember- those glow-in-the-dark Sven shirts show up really well while you're out viewing the fireworks!)
