Psychic Murder- with a Waxy Build-Up? It’s the “Frozen Ghost”- Tonight!

Posted on September 3, 2016

Tonight on MeTV- get set for "Inner Sanctum" chills- plus a hot new song from 60s rock and roll  icon Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon- as Lon Chaney Jr fears the power of his own mind-and a wax museum holds a deadly display- in "Frozen Ghost"!

The film opens with a live radio show with a studio audience-  witnessing the amazing  mind-reading skills of "Gregor the Great"! He uses his amazing mind to bring psychic power to his assistant and volunteers from the audience- but, when an inebriated scoffer makes him angry- resulting in tragedy- Alex Gregor blames himself and his mind power- and gives up his show business career! He even breaks off his engagement to his lovely assistant.

His agent George finds Alex a new job-  doing research and lecturing at the wax museum of an old friend, Madame Monet. Valerie Monet is happy to have Alex as part of the crew, which includes her young niece Nina- but, perhaps not as thrilled is their sculptor Rudi. Before he began crafting wax figures, Rudi was a plastic surgeon of some renown- until a tragic mishap ruined his reputation. He views Alex as  an interloper at the museum- and possibly a rival  for the affections of young Nina!

In reality, Alex has no interest in Nina in that way- yet, with the prodding of Rudi- Madame Monet, who's attracted to Alex, lets her jealousy get out of hand, and, after a confrontation that may have fired up Alex's mental powers again, he walks off into the night- only to return the next day to find Madame Monet has disappeared!  When a police inspector visits the museum to question the staff-he puts Alex at the top of list of suspects in her disappearance (or worse)- since it appears he was the last person to see her!

There's more going on here than meets the eye- and the creepy wax museum holds many of the clues to what the truth is- as well as possibly becoming a final resting place for innocent- and not so innocent- victims!

This 1945 entry in the "Inner Sanctum" series again stars Lon Chaney Jr as Alex aka "Gregor the Great"- with his assistant played by Universal stalwart Evelyn Ankers- and Martin Kosleck as the sculptor. There are a few other familiar faces in the cast, and we'll point them out-plus- have another edition of the Sven drawing game "Too Drawn Out"; a look at a real-life wax museum that features classic movie monsters (and is run by the great- nephew of a man who portrayed one!); plus twice the tunes- one with Doug, and- the very special song written and performed by the great Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon!  We'll chat with the man who brought us such hits as "Palisades Park", "Where the Action Is", and "Tallahassee Lassie"- and  premiere the music video (loaded with some celebrity cameos) of the fun song he wrote for me!

It all happens tonight on  MeTV at 10 pm eastern/pacific, 9 pm central, or, check local listings and/or www.metv.com  for channel allocation and time where you are! Our Chicago fans get a second look at "Jungle Captive" at 11 am on our sister station, WCIU, the U!

Keep in mind these future events: Labor Day Monday morning , at a little past 9:30 am central time, I'll be chatting with my old friends , WGN radio legends Steve and Johnnie on- where else? - WGN radio - 720 AM- and- we will also be talking with- Freddy Cannon himself about his song!

Then- next Saturday night- it's a very special Sven show- in honor of the 50th anniversary of  "Star Trek"- we will be presenting the original pilot for the landmark show- "The Cage"- which never actually aired on NBC- though parts of it were "recycled" for use in the original series 2 part episode "The Menagerie"! We''ll have a remastered print of the episode- which features  almost NONE of the familiar Enterprise crew members- and will give you some insight into the beginnings of one of the most popular science fiction shows of all time.

That same weekend- you can meet me -in person- in Antioch, Il at the J.J. Blinkers Magic, Joke, and Costume Store! Sunday the 11th, I'll be signing autographs from noon to 3 pm. The last time we were there, we drew a record crowd- and we're looking forward to seeing plenty of Sven fans there! For more info, check here on our site under "appearances".

Tonight, though- be ready for a good time  in the "Inner Sanctum"- and that new song that we think you're going to love! Enjoy it-and your Labor Day weekend!
