Re-Live the Arrival of the New Coffin- and the “Mad Ghoul”- Tonight!

Posted on August 30, 2014

Every week, people who (unlike YOU, dear reader) don't read the blogs here ask something to the effect of "what happened to the new coffin?" (uh- it's an older show) or "when will we see the new coffin again?" Well, just tune in to this week's show- as we wind up our month of "Summertime BOOs" with the very show in which we introduced the amazing new coffin to our dungeon studio and you viewers- it's the "Mad Ghoul"!

Besides the story of the new coffin's construction, arrival, and singular features- we bring you the story of a mad doctor, hoping to take advantage of the failing romance between a  singer and her  devoted boyfriend. Dr. Morris is obsessed with a nerve gas used by ancient Mayans - and uses said gas on lab monkey Jocko - and revives him using the fluid from another monkey's heart! It becomes apparent, that, without the coronary fluid, a victim of the gas cannot remain alive. As the doctor also becomes obsessed with the lovely vocalist Isabel- he schemes to use the nerve gas on his student, her boyfriend Ted- as a way to get him out of the way so he has a clear field with Isabel! He uses Ted as a zombie-like slave- and they follow Isabel on her performance tour, performing murders along the way to keep Ted alive- while Isabel reveals she is in love with her accompanist Eric- and the doctor plans to use Ted to again eliminate any competition for Isabel's heart -while Ted removes OTHER hearts!

This movie has some familiar actors, like George Zucco, Robert Armstrong, and Evelyn Ankers (and would our commenters PLEASE lay off the obsession with her perspiration stained wardrobe?!)- and has plenty of eerie moments. Be ready for  a traditional Sven song and a commercial for a simian cereal, along with the fascinating new coffin segments!

"Mad Ghoul" rises on your TV on ME-TV at 10 pm eastern/pacific- 9 central, and check the old local listings in your area if you're unsure of our time slot. in Chicago, you can see "Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" with Boris Karloff at 11 am on WCIU, the U.

Speaking of the old coffin- tune in to WGN radio (720 AM) on Labor Day Monday afternoon around 5:30 or so- when I'll be on the air with David Plier, who will have a very special announcement regarding the Museum of Broadcast Communications and yours truly!
