See the Missing Mail Segment Here- and More News!

Posted on August 14, 2014

If you were watching  "Curse of the Undead" on Me-TV last weekend, you may have noticed that, through a scheduling error, the mail segment from the previous week's show ran. Our Chicago viewers can catch the correct segment when the encore performance of the show airs on our sister station, WCIU, the U, this Saturday morning at 11- but- for those who can't see that - we have posted the segment right here on our site under the "videos" tab. You definitely want to see some of the cool objects we showed in this mail segment!

I just want to say "thank you" to everybody who came out for the huge Flashback Weekend event - we had a great time doing the "Friday Night Frights Live" talk show with the incredible Robert Englund in his full Freddy make-up (which is pretty amazing close up!)- Robert is a real gentleman, a lot of fun,  and it was an honor to work with him. We also had Lance Henriksen, another exceptional actor- who didn't want to talk seriously about things, and enjoyed giving me a good-natured "hard time" (he kept asking "Is Anderson Cooper here?" "Shouldn't David Letterman be doing this?") The audience was highly entertained, and Lance showed how Hollywood is missing a bet by not having him do comedy. Our final guests were all alumni of the "Elm Street" franchise, including Ronee Blakely, the mom from the first film, and the lovely Amanda Wyss, who was Freddy's very first on-screen victim! Also with us were Robert Rusler, Jennifer Rubin, and Monica Keena, and they were all terrific guests- so much so that, when we had to clear out for the next event, we all wished we could just keep going!

I have to mention- Robert endured HOURS in his make-up, to do hundreds of photo ops with fans, and to then take part in the  talk show, all to help raise funds for the Midway Drive-In's switch to digital projection- a very costly conversion. Through it all, he was pleasant and fun- and, yes, he swears this is the LAST time he would put on the Freddy make-up (expertly provided and applied by Robert Kurtzman, who had the same job in several  Freddy features!)

Our Saturday was just as eventful- along with our usual autograph signing and the incredible costume contest (this had to be one of the best years for that!), we also got to talk with more of the visiting stars, including William Forsythe, Zach Galligan, our pal Lance Henriksen once again, and some of the contestants from SyFy's "Face Off" make-up contest show- who were all fans of OUR show! We will definitely be bringing you highlights of all of these fun times in future Sven programs in the fall! Our thanks to Mike and Mia of Flashback, our pal Don who helps make things happen for us, and all the kind Sven fans who come out to support us!

Special notice- coming up next week, you can meet my alter ego, Rich Koz, at a special "Bowling for Rhinos" event in Chicago, sponsored by the Lincoln Park Zoo AAZK branch! next Thursday night, from 6-9 pm, you can join us, along with our dear friend Lisa Marie Varon- WWE's Victoria, TNA's Tara, and owner of the Squared Circle restaurant- and appropriately, the iconic pro wrestler Rhyno- at this fun event to support the preservation  of rhinos and their habitats. There's bowling, pizza, raffles, auctions, and more- with a registration donation, or a lesser donation for kids or those who won't be bowling.last year's event was  a great time- so we hope you'll join us next Thursday night at Diversey River Bowl. You'll find full information under the "appearances" tab on this site.

Our Halloween season Sven public appearance tour is already being  put into place, going from mid-September right thru to early November! Plus- it's looking like the big event at the Chicago Museum of Broadcast Communications will be happening in early October, with the old Sven coffin and  some of our set going on permanent display! Be watching for more details- and come back on Saturday for the lowdown on this weekend's Sven show!
