“Summertime BOOs” Head West for “Curse of the Undead”- Tonight!

Posted on August 9, 2014

There ain't no cure for the "Summertime BOOs"- but- is the cure for no-good double-dealin' polecats a gunslinger who's as quick with his fangs as he is with his shootin' iron? We'll find out tonight- when we round up a posse of viewers to take in "Curse of the Undead" on Me-TV!

There's trouble in a small town in the old West, as old Doc Carter and his daughter tend to young women with some mysterious illness that is causing death after death- with young preacher Dan trying to console the grieving families- and spotting a couple strange little puncture wounds on the neck of the deceased.

That's not the only problem the Doc is facing- a nasty neighbor known as Buffer has been trying to  get his paws on the good doctor's land, and keeps causing trouble for the Carter family. Doc's hot-headed son Tim wants to go after him- but the doctor tries to let him cool down, and asks the sheriff to lay down the law to the bullying Buffer.

When more tragedy comes up for the Carters, Tim goes ballistic and calls out Buffer- with even worse results. His sister Delores then takes it upon herself to recruit a gunslinger to  get rid of Buffer once and for all- and the call is answered by a mysterious gunman in black who visits the Carter ranch while the preacher is there- and has a bad reaction to the cross pin worn by the man of God. Regardless, he takes the job- and manages to scare Buffer so badly that HE goes to the sheriff for protection! Meanwhile, the gunman, one Drake Robey, takes an interest in Delores- and secures  a night job on her ranch because sunlight supposedly hurts his eyes (yeah, right...)  The preacher learns about some old history of the Carter land- and is amazed to find a link to the gunman that seems impossible- that leads him to the family crypt! Soon, it's a complicated face-off between the preacher, an unbelieving Delores, Buffer and Robey- with the undead gunman seemingly having the edge!

This 1959 chiller scores points for being different and taking vampire lore into the old West- and stars "Rawhide's" Eric Fleming as the preacher, along with horror veteran John Hoyt, among others. We'll keep you entertained with various Sven segments, and  bring you a song we like so much- we may just do it again in a future show!

"Curse of the Undead" moseys onto your screen tonight on Me-TV at 10 pm eastern/pacific, 9 pm central, or check local listings for time in your area. Chicago gets another look at big Lon Chaney Jr. as "Son of Dracula" on our sister station, WCIU, the U, at 11 am.

If YOU'RE in the Chicago area, you can head out to Rosemont this afternoon and meet me at the Flashback Weekend horror convention at the Crown Plaza Chicago O'Hare- take a photo with me and get an autograph from 2 to 4 pm (please get in line early to avoid disappointment!) and we'll have Sven merchandise available- then ,around 4:20, join me (yeah, the guy who was there hanging with Robert "Freddy Kruger" Englund last night!) for the fun of the costume contest!

Get set for a hot summer night in the old West tonight! (You might want to add extra garlic to that campfire chili- just saying...)
