Sven History- on Permanent Display!

Posted on October 9, 2014

I'd like to encourage you- one more time- to join us for the big event at Chicago's Museum of Broadcast Communications- Friday night, October 10th- for the unveiling of the new permanent Svengoolie exhibit- featuring the coffin I used from 1979 through 2013/14, and actual set pieces from our MeTV/WCIU studio set!

The response so far has been tremendous- and provisions have been made to provide enough space for additional guests  ordering last minute tickets, and those  purchasing tickets at the door.

The special program that night will include officials of the City of Chicago and the State of Illinois- along with Neal Sabin, the grand high exalted ruler of MeTV- Bruce Dumont, founder of the museum- Dave Plier, WGN radio host and museum board member- and Jeanne Sparrow and Melissa Forman of our WCIU "You and Me This Morning" show, who will be conducting a special interview with me. There will be a special unveiling of the Sven display, as well as the presentation of a complete Svengoolie movie, with Sven bits and a healthy dosage of "Svensurround". In addition- yes, you should come in costume- there will be a costume contest with prizes!

You'll be mingling with some of our friends from radio, TV, movies, and the print world who are nice enough to be attending, along with  many of our staff members and co-workers...oh, and me, too!

There will be food available (from legendary Chicago hot dog hotspot, Superdawg!), as well as Sven merchandise - the famed "glow-in-the-dark"t-shirts and the collector's button sets- and, you will be able to see some of the other wonders of the museum- including artifacts from Bill Jackson's "BJ and Dirty Dragon", "Family Classics", "Bozo's Circus", and more.

This is a very big honor for me, and I'm happy that this event has been opened to the public. You can get full information at www.museum.tv
