Sven’s Night at the Museum During “Weird Woman” Tonight!

Posted on January 31, 2015

If you were unable to attend last October 10th's Museum of Broadcast Communications event that kindly honored me- and opened the permanent exhibit of my original coffin and set pieces- or, if you were there and want to relive  the experience- we have a couple special segments from the event during tonight's  "Inner Sanctum"-based movie- "Weird Woman"!

This entry from the run of films  inspired by the "Inner Sanctum" radio series  features Lon Chaney Jr. as  Professor Norman Reed, who delves into the contrasting worlds of superstition and logical thinking. He travels to a South Sea island and meets Paula (Anne Gwynne), the lovely daughter of a former acquaintance, who has grown up  among the native people and was raised by a voodoo priestess.  The professor falls in love with her and marries her, and brings her back to the university- where his former girlfriend Ilona (Evelyn Ankers) is none too happy about losing Norman. She starts to ferment trouble among his friends and colleagues, and, once she knows about Paula's supernatural beliefs, decides that might be her best bet for vengeance.

Meanwhile, Norman becomes quite successful as an author and his stature at the university is on the upswing- but- is it due to his wife's use of voodoo? Norman himself doesn't take stock in it-and demands his wife abandon such beliefs- but, when odd things start to happen- and things take on a sinister tone- could there be supernatural phenomena at work?

This eerie 1944 film has some familiar faces, and we'll tell you all about the cast- as well as the origins of the whole "Inner Sanctum" connection. Not only will you get the usual Sven shtick, but, as I mentioned,a nice look at my event at the museum- which, hopefully, will encourage you to see it yourself in person here in Chicago.

You can enjoy it all on MeTV tonight at 10 pm eastern/pacific, 9 pm central, and please check your local listings for when it airs in your area. In Chicago,  viewers get a second look at Rondo Hatton in "House of Horrors" at 11 am on our sister station, WCIU, the U!

The night before the Superbowl, spend sometime with the supernatural "Weird Woman"!
