Sven’s SummerSlam: “Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man”- Tonight!

Posted on August 16, 2014

Tonight on Me-TV, the "Summertime BOOS" draw cheers from the fans, as the tag team of terror face off in a "no howls barred" bout that pits the Big Green Machine against the Were-warrior- the classic "Frankenstein Meet the Wolf Man"!

It all begins with one of my favorite atmospheric scenes- two graverobbers breaking into the Talbot family crypt, having heard that Master Larry was buried with valuables. Woe to these two stooges, who remove the wolfsbane that covers his body- and allow the rays of the full moon to shine on him!

We jump ahead to the discovery of an injured man in a distant town, who insists to the authorities and his doctor that he is Larry Talbot- even after fact checking reveals that Talbot died! Escaping from the hospital,  Talbot decides to  seek help for his lycanthropy- and tracks down Maleva the old gypsy woman- who suggests that one Dr. Frankenstein, known  for his amazing knowledge, might be the answer.

Their journey to Frankenstein's old village proves useless, since the doctor is long passed away- and, while on the grounds of the doctor's castle- it is revealed that his Monster is still buried beneath in the rubble- and still has the spark of life!

Things get complicated when Larry wants to find the late doctor's notes, and perhaps learn how to end the curse and his life- and seeks the help of the Baroness Frankenstein... but, things get complicated when Larry's doctor tracks him down- and the Monster proves to be a little TOO lively!

Bela Lugosi stars as the Monster in this film, meant to be a sequel to "Ghost of Frankenstein" and "The Wolf Man"- and he had lines, using Ygor's voice since his brain was transplanted into the Monster at the end of "Ghost..." - and likewise, the Monster was struck blind in the transplant. The reaction of a preview audience made the studio decide to eliminate any dialogue from the Monster, and, also, ignore the idea that he was blind! We'll discuss that in the show- and  provide plenty of Sventertainment, including bringing back one particular commercial parody that seems appropriate for Mr. Talbot.

"Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man" has a bell time of 10 pm eastern/pacific, 9 central, or check your local listings for the time on Me-TV! In Chicago, you can see "Curse of the Undead" (as I mentioned previously, with the correct mail segment intact!) at 11 am on our sister station, WCIU, the U!

Make sure you check the previous blog and/or our "appearances" tab for the info on the Rich Koz appearance at "Bowling for Rhinos" this upcoming week! Be watching for  more Sven appearances coming soon as well...

See you tonight with full moon and Franky fright!
