That New Commercial COULD Be Worth Money!

Posted on January 22, 2015

I'm sure many of you have read or heard about it- but the folks from Victory Auto Wreckers , in celebration of the 30th birthday of their classic commercial this May- are having a contest, asking YOU to do a new Victory Auto Wreckers commercial!

Jesse, the online marketing guy for Victory, sent me word that  they are giving fans the chance to make their own commercial- or, make what they think SHOULD be the commercial for Victory Auto Wreckers! You can enter your version  into their contest, with the chance to win $500 - see, "that new commercial COULD be worth money!" (I know, I know)

I'm hearing various opinions- that the winning commercial might be used on air- but, come on- nobody wants to see the classic one go away! That early 70s car? The guy with the huge watchband, shrugging and shaking his head- and just missing the corner of the car door hitting him in a sensitive area when it falls? So many people have grown up with that commercial, and it's still a favorite. And, yes, I'm very proud that MY voice has been on the version that runs on our company's local stations.

It'll be big fun to see what people come up with. And, yes, we did our own version back when I was doing my "Koz Zone" show at Fox Chicago back in 1980 (just so you know, the Victory Auto Wreckers folks have seen it, and  they like it! They are big Sven fans, and I'm happy to know that!) I remember my director, Shawn Kennedy, dubbing the character I played as the  hapless owner of the dilapidated car "Old Jelly Limbs"- due to my takeoff on the shrugging Victory customer. ( That character later became the dopey teenager Axel on the  weekday "Koz Zone" cartoon block.)

Behold! Here it is , for you to enjoy! And- have fun with the Victory Auto Wreckers contest! You'll find details right here-  http://victoryautowreckers.com/commercial/
