The Alphabet- and Humanity- Could End with BEE- It's "Terror Out of the Sky" Tonight!

Posted on September 8, 2018

Tonight on MeTV- we’re ready to give you hives, as we bring back- for one final run-  a lot of buzz about a swarm of sinister stingers that are infiltrating the apiaries of normal bees, out to take them over- and then wipe out the human population if they cannot be stopped!  The sequel to the previous made-for-TV movie from 1976 “The Savage Bees” ( and known in some circles as “Revenge of the Savage Bees”)- it’s the 1978 bee B-movie- “Terror Out of the Sky”!

Much like last week’s “5000 Fingers of Dr. T”- this film opens in a horrible dream- as researcher Jeannie is having a nightmarish flashback to the events of the previous film ( ignoring the fact that, in that film, her character was played by a different actress ) ! Mercifully, she is awakened from her fitful sleep by a visitor. It’s David Martin- the head of the National Bee Center where Jeannie has assisted-  in need of  her help to deliver an important  pitch necessary to procure a grant for the institution. Jeannie is reluctant to get involved in this, since she is about to leave on a vacation with her pilot boyfriend Nick- but that trip is about to be cancelled…

…Because, back at the Bee Center, we see the two men who will make the decision on the grant, kept waiting impatiently until David returns. Researchers, meanwhile, have discovered something puzzling in the experimental hives- hordes of dead bees! When a researcher investigating the strange event finds himself the target of a deadly bee attack, David has no choice but to call Jeannie back to work- so, no vacation- and , thanks to that, maybe no more boyfriend!

They’re shocked to discover that the same dangerous strain of South American bees that Jeannie encountered in that previous movie has somehow survived and infiltrated the hives. Those bees conquer any colony they are in, due to their aggressive nature- and the only way to stop them is to destroy the hives they are in, as well as all their inhabitants. Alas, there’s a fly (or bee) in the ointment- part of the business of the Bee Center is to send out shipments of their bees- and a handful of shipments have just gone out! It would only take a single season for the nasty bees to spread across the entire country, and endanger lives everywhere- so Jeannie and David must track down the shipments- and the only way to get that done in time means asking her ex-boyfriend Nick to help them out, using his plane to fly them to the far-flung locations. Can they track down the errant shipments of killer bees before they are turned loose on the population in a deadly plague…and how many lives could be lost along the way?

The cast of this made-for-TV film includes familiar TV faces like Efrem Zimbalist Jr. and  Dan ”Grizzly Adams” Haggerty, along  with Tovah Feldshuh, who recently appeared on the CBS summer series “Salvation” as the President of the United States. We’ll introduce you to the players, show you an episode of Sven’s new educational children’s show, come up with a few ideas to keep this bee franchise going, and provide some musical entertainment from the Sven songbook. We did want to mention- you do not have to have seen the original movie to which this is a sequel in order to keep up with the plot.

“Terror Out of the Sky” airs tonight at 8 pm eastern/pacific, 7 central, or- if unsure of time or channel- check your local listings, or at www.metv.com . MeTV encourages you to Tweet along with the large number of people who “live –Tweet” during the show on Twitter, using the hashtag #svengoolie . Our Chicago area viewers get a final look at Dr. Seuss’ “5000 Fingers of Dr. T” at 11 am on WCIU, the U. Re: that movie-it’s interesting that , last week, some of our commenters totally ignored what I wrote about stating your case and not driving the negativity into the ground.

On a more positive note- we had a great time last weekend at the “Starrcast” convention, and enjoyed meeting our fans, as well as some big names in the pro wrestling world including our old friend- the lovely Lisa Marie Varon, former owner of the Squared Circle restaurant! Tomorrow, we’ll be at the big Hall of Heroes Comic Con in Elkhart, Indiana- spending a few hours doing autographs and photos- check out the “appearances” tab here on our site for information.

Tonight, though, beware the sting of the invading bees on METV!
