The Big Guys Brawl! “King Kong VS Godzilla”- Tonight!

Posted on March 21, 2015

Two of the screen's biggest monsters get ready to rumble- and crumble various locations, as we present simian versus scales- it's "King Kong VS Godzilla"!

We learn about the story of a giant creature- treated as a god by the local natives- located on far-away Faro Island. A goofy executive for a pharmaceutical company, upset that the TV shows he sponsors aren't drawing an audience, decides that bringing the creature back to Tokyo  will result in big ratings. The "god" turns out to be the incredible King Kong- and the plan to bring him back as an attraction isn't as simple as thought! While being transported, Kong manages to break free and escape.

Meanwhile,  an American sub is trapped in a collision with an iceberg- which just so happens to be where a certain giant atomic lizard has been encase, in suspended animation- the mighty lizard breaks free, and begins to cause plenty of destruction as he instinctively heads for (where else?) Tokyo!

The giant ape also has Tokyo in his travel plans- and, while Japan is trying to defend itself against Godzilla, Kong arrives and creates his own mayhem- including the  required grabbing of a young woman! The Japanese defense team comes up with a great idea- why not pit BOTH these destructive forces- against each other? This leads to the showdown of the legendary massive monsters- two unstoppable  creatures facing off with unlimited strength!

This film has slightly different versions of both the big monsters than we may be used to- we'll tell you all about it during the show, as well as the films actual origins. Among the highlights is Kong's battle with a giant octopus- as well as some quick glimpses of stop-action animation!Plus, lots of other trivia and the Sven shtick you expect...

The "King Kong VS Godzilla" bout's bell time on MeTV tonight  is 10 pm eastern/pacific, 9 central, and please check your local listings for the time in your area. Due to overlapping rights issues, Universal doesn't let us show this film in Hawaii, so our friends in the Aloha state- one of my favorite places- will get a vintage Sven show instead. In Chicago, our sister station, WCIU- the U- gives viewers a second look at "Jungle Woman" at 11 am.

Don't forget- next Thursday is the Brookfield Zoo AAZK event I'll be appearing at- check out details under our "appearances" tab on this site!

Meanwhile, see the two giant animals that no zoo could hold- get ahold of each other- tonight on MeTV!
