The Final Part of the “Ape Woman” Trilogy Tonight- “Jungle Captive!”

Posted on April 18, 2015

The bad news? No Acquanetta in tonight's movie. The good news? Much more of the Ape Woman! (depending on your opinion, you can reverse the two-  that's up to you!) either way, tonight on MeTV , we bring you the final chapter in the Paula Dupree saga- with the added attraction of Rondo Hatton- in "Jungle Captive"!

The  half-ape, half -human body of Paula Dupree, after the events of the last movie, "Jungle Woman",now lies in the city morgue. In a laboratory, biochemist Stendahl experiments with returning life to  dead animals, aided by his young assistants, Don and Ann, who are hopelessly in love with each other, observe his success!

Meanwhile, back at the morgue, a bizarre-looking individual visits the morgue attendant, saying he has come to pick up the body for a local university to study. The morgue attendant decides to make sure he's on the up and up- with  some nasty results.

This brutish visitor, known as Moloch, is actually a secret associate of Stendahl- who  uses him to do his dirty work. Stendahl wants to discover how to return the ape woman to life- and human form! This is not a simple task- and finding a human female to become part of the experiment means trouble for Stendahl's unsuspecting assistant!  Will finally restoring Paula to her full humanity have unexpected obstacles?

Things are complicated by the fact that Paula has a tendency to sneak out of Stendahl's remote  compound where he does his secret experimentation!- and Moloch isn't too careful about making his movements too stealthy. Assistant Don and a nosy detective could throw more monkey wrenches ( see what I did there?) into the works, as the Paula Dupree  saga comes to its exciting conclusion!

As we mentioned, Acquanetta does not play Paula in this movie-  it's the lovely Vicky Lane this time out- and, yes, after the previous movie had a definite lack of the actual hirsute Ape Woman- you get much more of her this time around! And- the movie benefits from the presence of the "Monster Without Makeup" Rondo Hatton, whose true story we will review. We'll talk about other cast members, and, of course, some fun Sven shtick.

"Jungle Captive" hits the air tonight at 10 pm eastern/pacific, 9 central, or check local listings. Chicago gets one more look at "This Island Earth" at 11 am on our sister station, WCIU, the U.

Speaking of Rondo, time is running out if you haven't voted in the horror/sci fi/fantasy Rondo Awards! midnight tomorrow appears to be the deadline. I'm up for "favorite horror host" in category # 24. The Rondos are important since they are voted for by YOU- the real fans, so please make sure you vote for your favorites- vote for as few or as many categories as you like, and follow all the rules, or your vote will NOT count. You'll find the ballot, which you can cut and paste into an e-mail, at www.rondoaward.com

We had a lovely visit at our studios from Dawn Wells- the beloved Mary Anne from "Gilligan's Island"- she is, without a doubt, one of the nicest and most approachable classic TV stars we've had come in. She just may be making a return visit to the Sven show down the line!

Don't forget- I'm appearing next Saturday, the 25th, at Chicago's C2E2 convention- along with many big names from the worlds of comics and entertainment. you'll find the information under "appearances" ( I put that in for the gentleman who complained there was no information under "events"...)

Don't forget to join us to see the final chapter of Paula Dupree's story- tonight on MeTV!
