The Horror is 'InTents'- Beware of the "Killer Klowns from Outer Space"-Tonight!

Posted on September 7, 2024

Tonight on MeTV- we direct your attention to the center ring- or, actually, the center of a small town- where the greatest show on earth is the most grating show that’s come to earth! It’s a group of red-nosed, floppy-shoed aliens out to turn humanity into a sideshow- in one of the most popular cult film favorites to ever cause cotton candy catastrophes- “Killer Klowns from Outer Space”!

We arrive at the small town of Crescent Cove, where the teens are out to party, which raises the ire of the uptight and nasty local cop Officer Mooney. The young folks head to a popular lover’s lane, only to have their romantic liaisons interrupted by a couple of goofballs intent on selling them…ice cream!? While the kids give the cold shoulder to ice cream idiots, one young couple in attendance, Mike and Debbie, spot what appears to be a meteor streaking across the sky and coming down to earth not too far away! In a similar situation to what we saw in the 1950s “The Blob”-they decide to try finding it!

 by

Already near the site where the object has landed, an old farmer with his dog has also seen the object and wants to check it out. He finds what appears to be a sort of circus tent- but discovers more than he bargained for!

Mike and Debbie arrive a little later, and also find the “tent”. Showing the kind of common sense we see so often in films like this, they enter it- only to find it is NOT a tent- but some sort of multi-roomed space ship!? They soon stumble upon some nasty business involving what looks like cotton candy, but they are discovered by some bizarre clown-like aliens who come after them, using strange weapons like- a popcorn blaster!? The kids escape, but the Klowns (as we shall call them) decide to follow them into town- with evil intentions in mind.

The frantic couple tries to warn the police about what they have seen- but naturally, mean Mooney will have none of it, and even younger officer (and -ahem- Debbie’s ex-boyfriend) Dave is not buying their story. Mike convinces Dave to let him prove he is telling the truth by bringing him to the tent- but it’s no longer there! When the duo heads to the lover’s lane in search of more witnesses-they find none, but do find some disturbing evidence- including the nasty cotton candy. Seeing all this, Dave is beginning to think there may be some truth to Mike’s story!

He'd definitely know the truth if he were back in town at the moment, where some of the Klowns are causing mayhem and claiming unfortunate victims through their mock circus shenanigans. Their invasion of the police department and subsequent visit to the lovely Debbie- sends Dave and Mike out to an abandoned amusement park-aided by their two ice cream peddling pals-on a dangerous mission to stop the Klowns before it’s too late!

We do advise your discretion regarding who watches this film- not just for those who are afraid of clowns, but also for some gore and violence. This horror-sci fi-comedy film may not be everybody’s cup of tea -but it does have a very loyal fan base that always requests that we bring it back!

It has some unique special effects and unexpected twists, thanks to the creators, the Chiodo Brothers. We’ll explain some background on the film, run down the cast ( which includes John Vernon, best known as Dean Wormer in “Animal House” -plus a cast member who has appeared a couple times on “Seinfeld”) and show you how clowns have been no strangers to TV audiences. Plus, we bring back an interview with a couple of WWE Hall of Famers - our friend Amy “Lita” Dumas and Trish Stratus.

“Killer Klowns from Outer Space” start their catastrophic clowning on MeTV tonight at 8 pm eastern/pacific, 7 central time. MeTV invites you to do some live-Tweeting on Twitter during the show- using the hashtag #svengoolie – and to contribute to the thousands of fan Tweets that have us trending nationally each week. For our Chicago area viewers, we have an encore of “War of the Colossal Beast” at 11 am on our main local station, WCIU-the U!

If you missed the fun Mad magazine Svengoolie story from a few years back, there’s good news! Mad has put out a special Halloween edition, available now- that includes a reprint of the Sven story, with the great artwork of Tom Richmond, featuring a cast of MeTV and horror characters! Look for it at bookstores, newsstands, and wherever you find Mad magazine.

And, in similar news- the next Svengoolie comic book is at the printer right now! Watch for the big release in early October!

I’m excited to be joining the great Joe Bob Briggs for a special appearance at his Drive-In Jamboree being held the first weekend of October in Las Vegas! He is intent of presenting me with a lifetime achievement award as we show some classic horror films! Watch for more information under the “appearances” tab here on our website- with more appearances being added soon!

Meanwhile, join us tonight on MeTV for a front-row seat when belligerent buffoons bring sinister schtick from the big top to a small town !

Well no scary farm for me this year. My finance person says I can’t afford it which is a bunch of Hooey. I skipped Knotts in august to afford a ticket. I guess my photo op with Cassandra from midsummer scream will have to do. With my eyesight I would have not done any mazes- just the autograph and q and a session and maybe rides.

Carnival? Costume contest? Spook house? For a change you might volunteer and have the fun of being on the crew of one of these scary things. Your smile would surely calm down a kid who freaks out over a monster make-up job.

A passing of note. One that may make you feel old. Actor and race car driver Chad McQueen has died at age 63.

He was the son of Steve McQueen.

His most notable role was in “The Karate Kid” and “The Karate Kid2.” He had more success, and admittedly enjoyed more, racing. Another profession that he shared with his father.

Our oldest son was born on the 13th of May. And when he turned 13 (many years ago) it was actually on a Friday the 13th!

Almost every time I post a fun comment with a beer or cocktail image attached, it immediately get deleted. Or should I say, it never shows up. This can’t be an automated function as we assumed. It’s got to be s human, sitting in a Throne with a scepter, deciding who and what gets deleted. Just my opinion. But I know…if I don’t like it, then leave😡.

Also pictures of pets.
Maybe it’s the Taliban doing the deleting, given their stance on alcohol and depictions of animals 🤔

From gq.com, about James Earl Jones voice appearances on The Simpsons:

“Jones made his cameo debut in 1990, for the show's first “Treehouse of Horror,” the now staple Halloween episodes that parody horror movies. He played parts in all three of the skits, told from the perspective of the Simpson kids: as a moving man in Bart's first segment, which lampooned haunted house movies like The Amityville Horror; as one of the two drooling aliens in Bart's second segment; and, most famously, he narrated Lisa's reading of the Edgar Allan Poe story “The Raven.”
