Hmmm, I feel like I’ve seen this movie somewhere before … That’s because tonight’s film is a remake of George Romero’s 1968 groundbreaking horror film “Night Of The Living Dead”! Barbara and her brother are just trying to visit their deceased mother’s grave when they discover … the undead! Barbara ends up seeking shelter in a farmhouse with gentle giant Ben, a well to do family of 3, a teenage couple, and more zombies than you can shake a pitchfork at. As the living attempt to fend off the dead, they discover what brings out the worst in both. Who will make it until sunrise when hopefully the authorities can arrive? Tune and find out tonight, on MeTV as The Sven Squad – Gwengoolie, Nostalgiaferatoo and IMP aka Ignatius Malvolio Prankenstein along with The Man In The Hat himself – Svengoolie – are premiering 1990’s “Night Of The Living Dead” on House of Svengoolie.

Johnnie (Billy Mosely) and his sister Barbara (Patricia Tallman) are visiting their mother’s gravesite when they are approached by a zombie who is intent on doing what zombies do: kill you and therefore make more zombies. Barbara escapes. We won’t talk about Johnnie. She ends up at a farmhouse with all around good-guy-turned-zombie-fighter Ben (Tony Todd – who was a great friend of Sven himself). They clear out some zombies, only to discover couple Harry and Helen Cooper (Tom Towles and McKee Anderson) and their daughter Sarah (Heather Mazur) and teenage couple Tom Landry and Judy Rose Larson (William Butler and Katie Finneran) all hiding the cellar. Man this farmhouse is crowded for a remote farmhouse! They all work to keep the zombies out but seems like the real problem could be the living people trapped inside together. It’s just one night inside that farmhouse until some reinforcements come, but it’s not going to be an easy nor short night.

This 1990 film was produced by 21st Century Pictures and Columbia Pictures and distributed by Columbia Pictures. Of course, that’s different from the Columbia who ran the “7 records or tapes for 1¢” operation. That was Columbia House. This film was directed by Tom Savini and written by John Russo and George Romero. That’s right! The same guy who wrote, directed, shot, edited and served sandwiches on the original 1968 film.

Tonight, Imp brings a zombie of his own named Limbley to watch “Night Of The Living Dead” with the crew and he keeps falling apart. Gwengoolie’s on the Sven News news desk with intrepid reporter Nostalgiaferatoo “reporting” from the field. Of zombies. Svengoolie goes out “On The Road” and brings Gwen, Nosti & IMP to San Diego Comic Con along with Svengoolie EP Jim Roche and panel moderator (and friend of the show) Dana Gould to do a panel for the audience there, sign some autographs and spread goodwill.
