This Week’s Insane Doctor: John Carradine in “Invisible Man’s Revenge”-Tonight!

Posted on June 22, 2013

As "The Doctor is In-SANE!" month continues, tonight the  madness spreads- as the great John Carradine is a scientist- not Dracula, this time!- who helps a crazed man seeking vengeance started down that road- and the road to being even MORE insane- in "The Invisible Man's Revenge"!

In a little bit different storyline,  a young man -one Robert Griffin (no relation to the original H.G. Wells Griffin) who suffered amnesia after an attack in the jungle finally remembers his past- which includes  a partner he feels double-crossed him, left him for dead, and became wealthy from their co-venture of a diamond field. He demands his half of the wealth- but his partner claims it's all gone! One thing that ISN'T gone- the partner's beautiful daughter, whom  Griffin still has eyes for- even if she is already engaged!

When his demands seem too intense, his partner and his wife drug Griffin and toss him out- but, in his aimless wanderings, he tries to escape the rain at the home of one Dr. Drury( Carradine), who has developed a serum that causes invisibility- and is in need of  a human subject to try it out on! Griffin agrees, and his vengeance knows no bounds- endangering both those who are against him- and the one he supposedly loves!

This 1944 entry in Universal's "Invisible" series features movie and TV hero Jon Hall, along with film comedian Leon Errol, with Universal horror leading lady Evelyn Ankers and stock villainess Gale Sondergaard. We'll tell you all about the cast, review some of the invisibility effects, and-naturally- bring you some Sven foolishness.
