Victims are Toast When They Meet “The Mummy’s Ghost”-Tonight!

Posted on December 6, 2014

Yes, that embalmed Egyptian is back- bringing with him more murder and, once again, finding a contemporary female to be the reincarnation of his lost love- but this time, he's aided and abetted by the great John Carradine- it's the 1944 Kharis chiller- "The Mummy's Ghost"!

High priest George Zucco  sends his latest emissary to the US to retrieve the living Mummy Kharis and the body of the Princess Ananka-  the priest Yousef Bey, whom he instructs on the use of the tanna leaves to motivate the Mummy. Meanwhile, at a college in Massachusetts, a professor lectures on the story of Kharis to a class that includes Tom Hervey and his girlfriend Amina, who is of Egyptian descent (uh-oh- here it comes...). Amina has odd moments and seems dazed when the subject of anything Egyptian comes up.

Their professor has decoded some ancient hieroglyphics that actually reveal the properties of the tanna leaves, and decides to follow the formula- which draws Kharis to him, with the predictable results!  A chance encounter with Amina results in her falling unconscious from a trance-like state- and triggering some physical changes in her as well.

Yousef Bey arrives, uses the tanna leaves to gain control of the Mummy- and sets out with  him to claim the mummy of Ananka- which brings about additions to the local body count, and the realization that Ananka's spirit has been reincarnated in someone- which begins the quest to find out who that might be. The local police, realizing that the Mummy once again is  on the loose in their town, attempt to find a way to locate and capture him- while Yousef Bey discovers that Amina may be Ananka reborn- and, isn't above noticing that she's a fabulous babe. Soon, her boyfriend Tom finds himself battling to save Amina from both Kharis and Yousef  Bey- and keep her from a horrible fate!

This is the sequel to "The Mummy's Tomb" , and comes before "The Mummy's Curse" , for those who are following the chronology of the Universal "Mummy" series. Lon Chaney Jr. once again takes on the role (and rolls of bandages) as Kharis - we'll tell you some interesting behind the scenes stuff about him regarding this movie- John Carradine brings eerie dignified terror as only he can as Yousef Bey-and pin-up girl Ramsay Ames is stunning as Amina. Plus- we'll be following up the film with a special feature  Sven viewers have been asking to see again- our "Svensurround" version of an episode of "Commando Cody"!

"The Mummy's Ghost" will haunt MeTv tonight at 10 pm eastern/pacific, 9 central, and , if you're unsure of the run time in your area, please consult your local listings. Chicago gets another look at Boris and Bela in "The Black Cat" on our sister station, WCIU, the U, at 11 am.

Thanks for the usual great turn-out at the Comic Collector for "Sventa Claus" last night! As always, we had a terrific time, and met so many nice fans who took a break from their holiday shopping to admire my Rudolph the Red- Nosed Rubber Chicken!

Brew yourself a nice cup of tanna leaf tea and enjoy "The Mummy's Ghost" tonight, as we continue  with "Wrapping Up 2014"!
