Where YOU Can Keep Up with My Friends

Posted on March 20, 2013

I've been out of circulation for a while now, due to my cardiac event- but I did want to share some of the things my friends are up to with you- so you can enjoy them! First up, our old news reporter pal Zay Smith has moved his fun QT column, for the time being to- ZaySmith.com (well, what did you expect? You're not gonna find it at JackKass.com)- zay's clever bits and pieces of info will continue there for now- we'll let you know if and when it changes locale again. I got a message from WWE Hall of Famer King Jerry Lawler- he'll be in town to do a signing at this Saturday night's PCW wrestling event in Midlothian! Drop by to see some great independent wrestling matches and to visit with the King- a tremendous talent,a fellow cardiac survivor and a Svengoolie fan! It's a great affordable night of fun- for more info, just go to www.pcwwrestling.net Speaking of wrestling, our friend Lisa Marie Varon has opened a very cool restaurant in Chicago. You may know her as TNA knockout Tara, or from her past role as Victoria in WWE- but she's a Chicagoan, and has opened up "The Squared Circle"- at 2418 N. Ashland Avenue near Fullerton in the Lincoln Park area. They serve pizza, house-ground burgers (you like cheese? They have burgers stuffed with it! Also, an Elvis burger that my cardiologist would not want me to sample- but you can certainly enjoy it!)Plenty to drink there, you can watch wrestling on wall-mounted screens, and check out the cool wrestling memorabilia on the walls. They also run all the wrestling pay per views- yes, even Wrestlemania- and- the really nice thing is- Lisa is not just a figurehead- she's a hands-on owner, and, if she isn't booked for a taping or event, she will be there! Despite her wrestling persona, she is a charming, fun lady, and she wants the Squared Circle to be fun as well, while providing its own approach to food. When you drop by, tell her Svengoolie says hi! You might know that, the past few years, I've done an appearance at Brookfield Zoo to help out the AAZK- American Association of Zoo Keepers ( an organization that works with, but is a separate entity from the zoo) with their Spaghetti Dinner event to raise funds for the Vital Ground project- protecting habitat land in the wild for grizzly bears and wildlife. Since I'm not quite up to speed to be doing appearances,we've arranged for the prototype for my upcoming new coffin to be displayed at this year's event- happening Thursday night at Brookfield Zoo! You'll be able to have your picture taken with the new-design coffin, created by the geniuses at Acme Design in Elgin- and can bid on some Sven memorabilia, and other unique items- while, of course, enjoying a spaghetti dinner! It all starts Thursday late afternoon at the zoo in Brookfield, IL- but- warning! Check first to see if it's sold out! Okay- I'm getting closer to returning to a normal schedule- and there will be more news coming soon, so stop by the blog and check for more info. I'll have the scoop on this weekend's movie - coming soon!
