Why You’re Seeing What You’re Seeing

Posted on February 25, 2013

I get some complaints and comments regarding what's on the show, and thought I would address a few of them... Some viewers say "I've seen this movie 3 times on your show." Yes, you may have- here's the deal. We have a contract with Universal for a group of films- and some of them were also part of earlier agreements we had.So, when we have the rights to these movies- we show them again. Most people don't mind seeing these vintage films again. From what I can tell, a lot of people watch the shows again, just like they would a favorite episode of "Seinfeld" or "Andy Griffith"- to enjoy the classic films, or see a certain bit of ours again. Some viewers say "I just saw this movie three weeks ago (or two months ago, or whatever...)"-many times, it has actually been a much longer span of time-maybe it just seems like a shorter time to them. However, some movies recently have indeed been shown with a short turn-over; the reason for this is, for those of you who are somewhat unaware of it, I have been away from work after a massive heart attack last year.We normally try to leave some time between showings -we run the same show far less often than some prime time series run the same episode during a season.Again- since I've been away from work- we haven't had the chance to make new shows. In addition, we lose rights to some movies, which limits our library...which leads us to... Some viewers say "can't you show (movie title)- it's a Universal movie." The problem is- Universal only gives us rights to a small selection of their movies- we don't have access to every Universal flick. They will occasionally add some new titles to the ones they will give us. One other thing to keep in mind-you may have seen some shows before, but- as you may know- we've been adding affiliates across the country for the past couple years (we hit the Washington DC airwaves later this week!) and they haven't seen the shows before.Regardless, we always try to get some new titles from Universal... I should be returning to work before too long- and once we get into production, and I can get back into planning our schedule- we will try to put more space between showings of the movies; we will add new shows; and, we will, at the very least, also be adding in new mail segments in every show.I know , for some of our Chicago area viewers, who saw some of these movies before we went national, you may indeed have seen some shows a few times. I think it's been kind of cool that our director/editor Chris has added lots of vintage Sven bits into the mix to fill in for stuff while I've been gone- it also adds things to the shows that weren't in them in their previous showings! New or old shows, we provide you with some pretty good entertainment every week-which is our whole purpose.Once I'm back in action- we'll have more fun for you! Please come back to the blog soon- I may just be able to post on a more regular basis coming up...
