You May See The Doctor- But- Can the Doctor See YOU? “Dr. Cyclops” Tonight!

Posted on March 15, 2014

Tonight, our March Badness match-up has a team definitely going against a foe with a size advantage- as we present one of our most-requested movies- "Dr. Cyclops"!

When two biologists are summoned to the remote research facility of a brilliant scientist, they bring along a mineralogist, and led by  the owner of the pack mules they are renting, wend their way to the remote jungle compound of  Dr. Thorkel- who is a little miffed by the arrival of excess personnel he didn't invite. The doctor needs help to identify a certain component in a sample, since his eyesight is very weak (hence the "Coke-bottle" glasses he wears!) The visitors are shocked that, when the compound is identified, Thorkel abruptly informs them that they are no longer needed, and should leave at once!

When they refuse to leave, and have questions about Thorkel's experimentation, they soon know too much about what he has found- and what he is doing- and Thorkel, made furious by their snooping, decides that the quickest way to keep them from leaving and telling the world what he's up to- is to use his new-found discoveries to shrink the intruders to a mere few inches tall!

The tiny captives must endeavor to escape the heartless Thorkel - who'd just as soon kill them as study them- while avoiding the many perils of a world that is suddenly huge and dangerous! They try to use his poor eyesight as a key to their survival- but- will that be enough?

"Dr. Cyclops" is a ground breaking film-with special effects that are very impressive for 1940, and the distinction of being the first science fiction film to be done in Technicolor. Albert Dekker as the evil Thorkel proves to be a truly frightening menace- and we'll tell you about him and some of the other cast members, as well as info about the movie's "giant" effects. You will also witness a shrunken Sven (that's "shrunken", not "drunken', in spite of this being the St. Patrick's Day weekend...)

"Dr. Cyclops" appears tonight on Me-TV at 10 pm eastern/pacific, 9 pm central, and please check your local listings for the run time in your area. In Chicago, viewers can tune in this morning at 11 am to WCIU- the U- for another look at Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff in "The Raven"!

Monday, Me-TV begins its "Me Madness" competition- and I'm a part of it! Check in at

http://metvnetwork.com/memadness.php  - to make YOUR voice heard in the  pursuit of the title of "most memorable Me-TV program". I'd cast a vote, but...I forgot which program I'd vote for.

Keep an eye out for "Dr. Cyclops" tonight!
