The first person to win an Oscar for playing a real actor was Martin Landau for playing Béla Lugosi.

The second was Reese Witherspoon for playing June Carter.

The third was Jamie Foxx for playing Ray Charles.

And then it just goes bonkers after that.

7/12. I didn't try very hard on this one. For some reason, once I started it I wanted to get it over with as soon as possible. 😬

I agree; I think award shows are pretty boring. The only award shows I used to watch were in the 80s were the MTV awards and sometimes the Grammys but that was back then. 🎶🎸🥁

12/12 and comments![5] Jessica Tandy & George Burns were also in their 80's! [9] Several people have sold Oscars, but the Academy doesn't permit it! [11] Allegedly the name came from the uncle of an early winner! [12] That would be Tatem O'Neal for Paper Moon! Bonus question: Which future Oscar winner starred in the TV version?

10/12.
Just my opinion - back in the old days 1940's, 1950's, 1960s - if a movie was nominated for an Oscar, most likely, it was something worth watching. Nowadays, when I see a movie nominated for an Oscar, I stay away from it. It is usually the most boring thing a person can imagine and the nominated movie has a person that you think can't disappoint, but does.
I tend to agree with you. I haven't been to the movies in years... There's little I want to see, I'm not interested in spending $20 or more to listen to rude cretins gab throughout the picture... cell phones ringing... babies crying... general rudeness. Not only have many of the pictures gotten worse, but so has the audiences...

I'll take a Bogart flick or an MGM musical any day over 99% of what Hollywood is now churning out... For every rare film of excellence they *do* come up with, the rest are geared to viewers with the IQ of toast...

10/12 Used to watch the show when I was young. I hadn’t seen it for I don’t know how long until a few years ago when I tuned in just in time to see Will Smith slap Chris Rock.
At least there was some action at the awards show. More than I can say for the nominated movies. 😂
