I would have to say Cahill us marshal.

The Searchers with Shane a close second. Spaghetti Westerns aren't in the top 10. But Unforgiven is a masterpiece.

Fun fact: John Wayne starred in both Rio Bravo and Rio Grande, nine years apart. What most people don't realize is that the Mexican name for the Rio Grande is... Rio Bravo.

70% similar. Quite frankly I'm surprised the movie I chose had so many responses as greatest ever. Oh yeah, the movie, The Good The Bad and The Ugly. In my opinion, A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More and this one form one of the greatest western trilogies ever made.

And then there was Hang 'Em High, which tried to fool people into thinking it was more of the same series. It wasn't. Yes, it had Clint in it, and was deliberately imitative of Leone' s style, but was made by a major US studio looking to cash in. It's not a *bad* western if you ignore that and judge it on its own merits, but nothing really that impressive in context.

Lots to chose from, but "Silverado" gets my vote.

70% similar. "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly". Those Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns are the best of the crop by far.

20% similar.

No offense to the Duke, but The Outlaw Josey Wales is my all-time favorite Western.
So many great characters, scenes, and quotes out of that movie.
"Josey, ain't we going to bury those guys?"
"To hell with those guys. Birds gotta eat, same as worms."

Josey Wales: "Seems whenever I get to liking someone, they ain't around long."
Lone Watie: "I have noticed, when you get to disliking someone, they ain't around long, either."

I voted for True Grit because I really like it, but Butch and Sundance are way up there too. What, are you crazy? The fall’ll probly kill ya!

0% similar. Guess I'm one of the few who think High Noon is the best Western.

"The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" because I am a huge James Stewart and John Wayne fan, although I preferred him in "True Grit."

Ned Pepper: What's your intention? Do you think one on four is a dogfall?
Rooster Cogburn: I mean to kill you in one minute, Ned. Or see you hanged in Fort Smith at Judge Parker's convenience. Which'll it be?
Ned Pepper: I call that bold talk for a one-eyed fat man.
Rooster Cogburn: Fill your hand, you son of a bitch!

I wanted to choose four or five of them, but I settled on "The Magnificent Seven" because of that stirring theme music. It takes me back to my childhood. 😊
