Are these real '50s doo-wop songs, or did we make them up?

Would you know an "Earth Angel" if you saw one?

 The Everett Collection

Who put the bomp in the bomp bah bomp bah bomp? Who put the ram in the rama lama ding dong?

We may never know.

However, hopefully, you'll know which of these songs are real, and which aren't. Today we're talking doo-wop, both factual and fictional. We want to know how well you can differentiate between the two.

Good luck, and be sure to share your score in the comments section below!

  1. "Rattle My Heart, Rock My Soul"
  2. "Come Go With Me"
  3. "Sugar Lips and Cherry Kisses"
  4. "Shimmy, Shake, Let Me Go"
  5. "Six Nights a Week"
  6. "Lollipop Moonlit Dreams"
  7. "Earth Angel"
  8. "Alley of Love"
  9. "Little Darling, Come Back to Me"
  10. "I Only Have Eyes for You"
  11. "Hug Me Til the Sun Comes Up"
  12. "Sock Hop Love Affair"
  13. "The Great Pretender"
  14. "Chapel of Dreams"
  15. "Last Kiss Under the Streetlamp"

Are these real '50s doo-wop songs, or did we make them up?

13/15 I thought a couple of them were real (#3 and #9). I realize now that I was thinking of "Little Darlin'" by The Diamonds on #9.
"I Only Have Eyes for You" is great for slow dancing.

I only knew 3 real ones. I clicked everything "real" just to see what was what.
(BTW - "Earth Angel", "I Only Have Eyes For You", and "The Great Pretender".)
Must not be a fan of the 50s. "Ain't That a Shame!" BTW - Fats Domino recorded that one.
Just have never been much of a music follower. As for the decades, I was *born* in the 50s, but raised in the 30s and 40s.
I can understand that. I was born in the 60s but have a 50s way of thinking.
It's like the cars of the 50s. They'll never make them like that again.

Kids drop the frames, don't use the original colors, and put 20 inch wheels on them. Barrett-Jackson auctions aren't the same. I like seeing them as they were meant to be.

10/15. My favorite of this bunch was Earth Angel by The Penguins.

Famously covered by Marvin Berry and the Starlighters!
