Can you complete the names of these popular candies from the 1970s?

Do you remember all these Rings, Caps and Pops?

You can probably credit (or, if you are a dentist, blame) Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. The smash 1971 film, based on the beloved Roald Dahl book, led to an influx of wild and wacky new candies. More and more creative candies started to show up in checkout aisles throughout the 1970s.

In other words, it was an awesome decade for trick-or-treating.

Thankfully, for younger generations, most of these candies remain popular favorites today. They were all introduced in the 1970s. See if you can fill in the blanks!

  1. Reese's ________ came along in 1978 — and they were something to phone home about.
  2. ________ Caps came in flavors like grape and root beer.
  3. The original flavors of ________ Belly in 1976 also included grape and root beer.
  4. The ________ Peppermint Pattie was introduced nationally in 1975.
  5. No, ________ Rocks and Coke did not kill Mikey.
  6. The best part about ________ Dip was that you could eat the stick.
  7. Charms ________ Pops were really two candies in one.
  8. Leave it to Willy Wonka to come up with the ________ Gobstopper.
  9. Willy Wonka also sold his Wacky ________.
  10. _______ Taffy gave you something to chew on and something to read.
  11. Ring _______ were a much sought after Halloween treat.
  12. Hershey's introduced its Whatcha________ in 1978.
  13. In 1975, Life Savers introduced the first soft bubble gum. It was called Bubble ________.

I got a question wrong. Sadly I must smack my knukles with a flimsy plastic ruler.

I loved Marathon Bars too! Also Chunky candy bars except they got so small over the years & needed to change the name to Shrunky.

9 of 13! I really thought I would get them all with my sweet tooth and love of candy. But I couldn’t for the life of me remember the names. Mom always insisted that if I was going to buy candy to spend my money on the ones that I knew to be really worth it! The old standards. 😋😂😁

Good quiz bit I never thought of gum as candy. You really don't eat it you just chew it. Just a thought. Peace.

I love Laffy Taffy. I also enjoy the jokes on the wrappers. Laffy Taffy is getting harder to find. I hope it never goes away.
